ASHBURN, LEONA M., 81, of Dunnellon, died Wednesday (June 7, 2000) at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness. She came here 17 years ago from her native Crestview and was a homemaker. She was Protestant. Survivors include two daughters, Betty Carolyn Hayes, Dunnellon, and Lila Jo Thomas, Andalusia, Ala.; three brothers, James B. BOWRING, DONNA M., 59, of Inverness, formerly of Brooksville, died Wednesday (June 7, 2000). Born in Brown County, Wis., she came here 14 years ago from Brooksville. Survivors include her husband, Richard W.; a son, Richard II, St. Paul, Minn.; two daughters, Tami L. Adams, Inverness, and Kim B. BREWER, DALLAS C., 68, of Lecanto, died Monday (June 5, 2000). He came here 19 years ago from his native Herrin, Ill., and was a retired brick layer. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Local Bricklayers & Craftsmen 21, Chicago. KIEFER, CLAIRE I., 94, of Floral City, formerly of Clearwater, died Wednesday (June 7, 2000) at Avante of Inverness. Born in Schoolcraft, Mich., she came here 10 years ago from Clearwater, where she had lived for 30 years. She was a sales clerk for Schell Land Novelty Shop, Clearwater, with 16 years of service. She was a member of Northwest Presbyterian Church, St. Petersburg. Survivors include a son, Wallace, Ocala; two daughters, Nancy J. MINGALONE, LOUIS A., 81, of Sugarmill Woods, Homosassa, died Wednesday (June 7, 2000) at Oak Hill Hospital, Spring Hill. Born in New York City, he came here two years ago from Sparrow Bush, N.Y. He was a retired truck driver for Breyers Ice Cream and a member of First United Methodist Church, Homosassa. He was an Army veteran of World War II, life member of the National Veterans of Foreign Wars, member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6146, Homosassa, and past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 161, Port Jervis, N.Y. Survivors include his wife, Edith M. ZELLNER, M.F. "PHIL," 71, of Floral City, died Wednesday (June 7, 2000). A lifelong resident of Floral City, he was a retired rancher and farmer. He attended the University of Florida, Gainesville, and served on the Citrus County School Board for 24 years. He was a member of Floral City Church of Christ and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a former member of the Water Board and a member of the Airboat Association. Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Concidine; two daughters, Paula L., Fort Collins, Colo., and Dena Z. WEISZ, GLADYS ROBERTA, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday (June 7, 2000) at Hospice House, Brooksville. Born in Long Island, N.Y., she came here 20 years ago from Huntington, N.Y. She was a homemaker, organ teacher, competitive dance skater and volunteer officer for the Junior Naval Reserve, all in Long Island. She was Methodist. He was a retired technical sergeant for the Air Force and was Baptist. O'BRIEN, THOMAS A., 72, of Valrico, died Saturday (June 3, 2000) at Brandon Regional Hospital. Born in Toronto, he came to the area in 1991 from Steubenville, Ohio. He was a bundler with Weierton Steel Mill for 43 years and was Catholic. SCHALE, NINA, 60, of Tampa, died Tuesday (June 6, 2000) at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Chicago, she came here in 1976. She was a clerical secretary for Windsor Insurance Group. She was a member of St. John's Greek Orthodox Church and was a past president of the Ladies Philoptochos Society of Tampa. FRIEDLING, PETER ALBERT, 76, of Land O'Lakes, died Tuesday (June 6, 2000). Born in Toronto, he lived in the Tampa area most of his life. He was a retired firefighter for Tampa Fire Rescue. He was a World War II Navy veteran and was Protestant. Survivors include two daughters, Judy Wanamaker, Crystal River, and Mary E. Dugas, Dover; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. GEER, ROBERT T., 73, of New Port Richey, died Thursday (June 8, 2000) at Community Hospital of New Port Richey. Born in Stamford, Conn., he came here eight years ago from Charleston, S.C. He was a police officer for the city of Stamford, with 28 years of service. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Stamford Police Association, the Connecticut State Police Association, the Eagles, the Elks, the Moose, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Marine Corps League. Born in New York City, she came here 15 years ago from New Orleans, where she was a credit administrator in the banking industry. OBERTON, DOUGLAS H., 74, of New Port Richey, died Wednesday (June 7, 2000) at home. Born in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, he came here 13 years ago from Brighton, Mass. He was a purchasing agent for Giltspur Exhibits, Boston, and member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Holiday. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and member of the Disabled American Veterans Post 78, New Port Richey, and the Post Office Chapter 10, Boston. - BYRNSIDE, ROBERT A., 44, of Belleair Bluffs, died Tuesday (June 6, 2000). Authorities said he jumped from the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. He came here in 1994 from his native Danville, W.Va. He was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church of Largo. Survivors include two daughters, Valerie Nicole Byrnside, Bedford, Va., and Andrea J. - ATTAR, ANDREW M., 66, of Clearwater, died Monday (June 5, 2000) at home. He was born in Damascus, Syria, and came here from Long Island, N.Y. He graduated from University of Texas and earned a doctorate from New York University. He was a registered professional engineer and an airport planner. He owned and operated Attar Aviation Services, Clearwater, and had more than 32 years' experience in management and administration of aviation and transportation systems. Among his achievements was working as project manager at Brunci International Airport in Darussalem, the New Hong Kong International Airport, the Amman International Airport, Jordan, the Southern Taiwan International Airport, the Chiang Kai-Shek International Airport. He was an engineer and planning manager for 25 years in the Aviation Department of the Port Authority in New York and New Jersey and he served five years as chief of city planning in Damascus. He was born in Vanceboro, N.C., and came here in 1962 from Springfield, Va. He retired as a residential electrician and was a Navy veteran of World War II. She was active with the Sunset Beach Civic Association, the Treasure Islettes and the Treasure Island Action Club.
