Storms knock out power to about 1,500
About 1,500 Hernando County residents lost power Tuesday due to storms and lightning. About 500 of the customers were in Brooksville. Some lost power as early as 5:30 p.m. and did not have it restored until 10:30 p.m., although others had it restored in minutes, said Mac Harris, spokesman for Florida Power. Another 1,000 customers of Withlacoochee Electric Cooperative also lost power as crews worked into the night to repair wind and lightning damage, spokesman Ernie Holzhauer said.
