Hambrick still seeks elusive payday
The story began Dec. 30, 1974, the day Darren Dwayne Hambrick was born. Better known in his hometown of Lacoochee as "D-Ham", Hambrick helped put east Pasco County on the sports map when he and his brother, Troy, led the 1992 Pasco Pirates to a state football championship. Darren also won a state title in the high jump with a school-record leap of 7 feet, 1 1/4 inches -- a mark that still stands.
