Stricter controls at Los Alamos
Security at the Los Alamos nuclear lab has gone unhinged. First workers hide for three weeks the disappearance of two computer hard drives that contained U.S., Russian and Chinese nuclear weapons secrets. Then, with FBI agents swarming the place, the hard drives mysteriously reappeared -- found behind a copier in a restricted area that federal agents already had searched twice.
Injecting religion
Thankfully, the U.S. Supreme Court remains firm on not allowing schools to publicly inject a religious message during organized functions.
Gun control's unexpected effect
Canada's tough gun-control laws haven't eliminated crime, but at least in one case they've made a difference in how criminals arm themselves.

Sad goodbye to 28th Street Drive-In
If you are a Pinellas County resident nostalgic for drive-in theaters, you had better unfold that rumble seat, rinse out that favorite thermos and truck out to 4990 28th St. N. On June 30, the county's one remaining ozoner -- the 28th Street Drive-In -- will not see another moonlit, starry night. Gone, too, will be those steamy car windows. Remember them?
