  • EVANS, LENA, 81, of Chassahowitzka, died Friday (June 23, 2000). Born in Archville, Tenn., she came here 36 years ago from Battle Creek, Mich. She was a member of First Christian Church of Chassahowitzka, and a charter member Chassahowitzka Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Survivors include three sons, Virgle Goforth, Chassahowitzka, Robert Goforth, Cleveland, Tenn., and Roy Goforth, Marshalll, Mich.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 71, the Hernando Youth Baseball League and the Brooksville United Soccer Association. He attended the Methodist School Center in Brooksville. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving under Gen. Patton, a member of All Faiths United Church of Christ and its Board of Trustees, a life member of VFW Post 7256, Ridge Manor, and a charter member of the Body Shop Owners Association, Pinellas Park. Born in Muse, Pa., he came here six years ago from Topeka, Kan., and was a sheet metal worker for the heating and air conditioning industry. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of the VFW and American Legion, both of Topeka, and Sheet Metal Workers International. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was former chief of the Dumont Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Regency Park Civic Association and a Catholic. She was a retired schoolteacher for Evergreen Park Public Schools in Illinois. She was a member of Episcopal Church of the Ascension, Clearwater. She was a life member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association and the Kansas State Teachers College Association. She graduated from the National College of Education, Evanston, Ill. He moved here in 1986 from Carrollton, Texas. He worked as a glazier and gave 25 years of faithful service to the local Glaziers Union, Rochester, N.Y.     • KING, JESSE WRIGHT, 84, of Seminole, formerly of North Redingon Beach, died Thursday (June 22, 2000) at Sabal Palms Health Care Center, Largo. He was born in East St. Louis, Ill., and came here in 1955 from Des Moines, Iowa, where he was founder and CEO of Wright Welding Supply. He was president and CEO of Suncoaster Mobile Homes Manufacturing for more than 30 years. He was a pioneer in the aluminum screen porch, cabana and awning business and served as president of Busch Mastercraft Inc. He was co-founder and co-developer of Edgewater Pines Mobile Home Park, Seminole, and Terra Ceia Manor Mobile Home Park, Palmetto. He was Protestant and an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. In recent years, he and his wife founded the Jesse King Scholarship Foundation, which provided scholarships for 14 Seminole High School students to attend college in North Carolina. King also supported other colleges and the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Lela Johnson King; and three nephews, Richard Johnson, Redington Beach, Robert Johnson, Greenwich, Conn., and Norman Johnson, San Diego. Lewis W.     • AYOUB, JOHN G., 49, of Tarpon Springs, died Wednesday (June 21, 2000) at Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital, Tarpon Springs. He was born in Lebanon and came here in 1996 from Massachusetts. He worked as a tailor for Countryside Tailors & Alterations, Clearwater. He was a member of St. Athanasius Syrian Orthodox Church, St. Petersburg. Born in Dunnellon, he lived in St. Petersburg, Largo and Orange, N.J., before moving to Cedar Grove 25 years ago. He was a licensed land surveyor in Essex County, N.J., for many years. For the past five years he was a crossing guard for the township of Cedar Grove. He was an Army veteran and a member of Cedar Grove VFW Post 6255.     • MacDONALD, JONATHAN DAVID, 35, of St. Petersburg, died Thursday (June 22, 2000) at home. Born in Gloucester, Mass., he came here in 1992 from Seattle. He was a freelance computer technician and a security guard with Somethin' Different on Central Avenue, St. Petersburg. He was an Army veteran. He received an associate's degree from North Shore Community College, Beverly, Mass., and attended the University of South Florida, St. Petersburg, majoring in education and history.     • RIGNEY, CLARA MAE, 84, of St. Petersburg, died Friday (June 23, 2000) at Egret Cove Center. Born in New Jersey, she came here in the 1950s from Akron, Ohio. She was a public school teacher and a child welfare worker. She was a former officer of the DAV Auxiliary and a member of OES. Survivors include a sister, Helen Dalton, St. Petersburg; two nieces, Janet Dalton, St. Petersburg, and Beverly Bloodsworth, Brandon; and two grandnephews.     • TADLOCK, CHARLES E. "CHUCK," 81, of Ridge Manor, formerly of St. Petersburg, died Friday (June 23, 2000) at Pasco Community Hospital, Dade City. Born in Schell City, Mo., he moved to Ridge Manor 22 years ago from St. Petersburg, where he retired as owner and operator of Chuck's Servicenter, Pinellas Park. He was an Army veteran, having served under General Patton. He was a member of All Faiths United Church of Christ, Ridge Manor, where he served on the board of trustees. He was a life member of VFW Post 7256, Ridge Manor, and was a charter member of the Body Shop Owners Association, Pinellas Park. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Grace; a brother, Merle, Pea Ridge, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews. Coleman & Ferguson Funeral Home, Dade City.
    • THOMPSON, ALGIE, 66, of St. Petersburg, died Friday (June 23, 2000) at National Healthcare Center, St. Petersburg. Born in Dooling, Ga., he came here in 1956 from Vienna, Ga. He retired from the city of St. Petersburg and was Baptist. Survivors include three brothers, T.J., Fred and Emmett, and a sister, Fronnie Davis, all of St. Petersburg.
