Thanks to all who have sent us words and works of art for June, July and August. Your work on the theme of your choice has been so impressive we decided not to wait until July to share some of it, along with a couple of pieces about June's theme, "allowance tales." (We'll publish more on the open theme in July, August and September, so keep your creativity coming; please see the instructions below on how to submit your work.)
'Tomb Raider' is for game junkies only

Saying 'hello' and then nothing
"Hello" is one of the first words most of us say after "dad," "mom" and "goodbye." I remember seeing a book my parents had entitled What Do You Say After You Say Hello? You won't find me reading it, but it does describe my problem. When I walk into a room I have no idea as to how to proceed beyond hello. If I am lucky enough to think of something to say, I can't seem to get my mouth to cooperate with my brain. When I do make my lame attempt to be verbal and speak up, I speak so quietly that it seems no one acknowledges I am even in the near vicinity. I then go inside myself and have conversations not about what they are saying but about my shy, backward and introverted self.
