A former broker for Prudential Securities has filed an arbitration claim against the firm, charging that while he was out on sick leave, the $500-million-plus Publix account he had had for 15 years was given to another broker. Prudential says the claim has no merit.

ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT: Fewer workers are feeling directionless, Gallup Management Journal says. The share of actively disengaged workers fell from 19 percent in last year's fourth quarter to 14 percent in the first quarter, according to a survey of 1,010 workers. One possible reason: Their jobs look better as the economy sours.
