  • BREITWEG, GUSTAVE R. JR. "BOB;" 72, of Dunnellon, died Friday (June 30, 2000) at Munroe Regional Medical Center, Ocala. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he came here seven years ago from Old Town. He was a retired law enforcement officer with Suffolk County Sheriff's Department, New York. He was Catholic. He was an Army and Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10087, Harry Nesbitt Post, Beverly Hills, and other posts in South Florida. Survivors include two sons, Gus W., Dunnellon, and Michael R., Citrus Springs; two daughters, Alice Ann Picard, Palm Beach Gardens, and Cathy Mary Fritz, Royal Palm Beach; a brother, Harry Wuest, Lake City; and five grandchildren.   • ELLIOT, MADGE ELIZABETH, of Citrus Springs, died Saturday (July 1, 2000) at Cottages of the Gentle Breeze. Born in Syracuse, N.Y., she came here 28 years ago from North Providence, R.I. She was a special education teacher for the Providence public school system for 25 years. She was a member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Citrus Springs, and its women's guild.   • FERRO, JUNE M., 65, of Inverness, died Sunday (July 2, 2000) at Citrus Health and Rehab. Born in White Plains, N.Y., she came here 12 years ago from Rockland County, N.Y. She was a retired floral designer. Survivors include her husband, Ralph; two sons, Glenn, Inverness, and Tracy, Bitburg, Germany; a daughter, Deborah Ward, Sprakers, N.Y.; her twin sister, Jane Russell, Scarsdale, N.Y.; and three grandsons.   • FREEDMAN, JEROME DAVID "JERRY," 81, of Ann Arbor, Mich, formerly of Homosassa, died Saturday (June 23, 2000) at Arbor Hospice Residence, Ann Arbor. Born in Racine, Wis., he came here 19 years ago. He graduated from the University of Toledo, College of Engineering, in 1941, and worked for Ford Motor Co. Body Engineering, Dearborn, Mich., retiring in 1981. He was a military veteran of World War II, serving in the Panama Canal Zone. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Crystal River, the Dearborn Federal Credit Union Board, the Kiwanis, and the Sugarmill Woods Country Club. Survivors include his wife, Helen A. He was a registered nurse for Down State Medical Center, Brooklyn, N.Y. He was Catholic. He was a Navy veteran and member of the Knights of Columbus Council, Staten Island. He was a pipe fitter in the aerospace industry and member of the Hope Evangelical Lutheran Churh, Citrus Springs. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Edward F. Penno Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4864, Citrus Springs, and a volunteer for the Citrus Springs Fire Department. Survivors include his wife, Hazel; two sons, John A. He graduated from the University of Maine and was the owner and operator of Flynn's Speedy Printing, St. Petersburg, for 15 years. He was a Navy veteran, member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church and the Brookridge Golf Association. Survivors include his wife, Mary Hubbard; two sons, James W. and John E.   • BARNHILL, JOHN PHILLIP, 73, of Tampa, died Monday (July 3, 2000) at James A. Haley VA Medical Center. Born in Rocky Mount, N.C., he came here 48 years ago from North Carolina. He was a retired truck driver for American Freight Systems, was a World War II and Korean War Navy veteran, a member of the Teamsters and Chauffeur's Local Union No. 79, American Legion Seminole Post 111 and was Protestant.   • BITTICK, BARBARA DANIELS, 69, of Tampa, died Saturday (July 1, 2000) at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center. Born in Fort Myers, she came here in 1974 from. She was a homemaker. He was a retired mail carrier for the post office. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of DAV Plant City No. 64, the National Association of Letter Carriers No. 2109, and Mount Zion Assembly of God. He was retired from American Can Manufacturing and was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. She was an elementary and high school teacher for the Jasper County School System, Georgia, and taught in Jacksonville. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the National Society of Southern Dames, and life member of the Florida Retired Educators Association.   • EDWARDS, THE REV. JOSEPH, 89, of Port Orange, formerly of Clearwater, died Thursday (June 29, 2000) at Hospice Care Center, Port Orange. He was born in Nicholasville, Ky., came to Clearwater in 1975 and moved three weeks ago to Port Orange. He was a minister for 67 years with United Methodist Churches, serving congregations in Kentucky, New Jersey and Michigan, and he was a former member of the General Boards of United Methodist Church.     • KENNEDY, ROGER LEO, 60, of Tampa, formerly of St. Petersburg, died Thursday (June 29, 2000) at home. Born in Evergreen Park, Ill., he came to the area in 1997 from Gainesville. He was an Army veteran, a member of King of Peace Metropolitan Community Church in St. Petersburg and a former member of Metropolitan Community Church of Tampa and Gainesville, a founding member of Prinde Al-Anon of St. Petersburg, a member of the Tampa Bay Bridge Club and a member of the Prime Timers of Tampa. Survivors include a son, Patrick, Tampa; a daughter, Dr. Colleen Kennedy, San Diego; a brother, James, River Forest, Ill.; two sisters, June Ann Rollinger, St. Joseph, Mich., and Janet Marie Kennedy, Schaumburg, Ill.; and five grandchildren.     • MARTENS, BONNIE E., 63, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday (July 1, 2000) at Northside Hospital and Heart Institute. She came here five years ago from her native Montpelier, Ohio. She was a homemaker and was Protestant.     • HOFFMAN, MICHAEL T. "MEMIKE," 56, of Apollo Beach, formerly of St. Petersburg, died Saturday (June 24, 2000) in Alexandria, Va. A Native of Buffalo, N.Y., he moved to Apollo Beach from Pittsburgh in 1973. He was a computer consultant, a member of Moose Lodge Riverview Chapter 2158 and Tampa Bay Mensa. Survivors include two sons, John David Karl, Korea, and Dwayne Michael, Rapid City, S.D.; two daughters, Angelica Michele Elkington, Land O'Lakes, and Marcie Lee Boone, Riverview; three brothers, John L.     • LACHMUND, CHARLES, 87, of St. Petersburg, died Friday (June 23, 2000) at Carrington Place Convalescent Center. He came here from his native New York in 1970.     • LETTERMAN, JAMES L. SR. "JIM", 66, of St. Petersburg, died Friday (June 30, 2000) at St. Anthony's Hospital. Born in Marshfield, Mo., he came here in 1975 from Kansas City, Mo., where he had been a teacher at various schools. He was a substitute teacher in Pinellas County schools. He held a master's degree in English, history and political science. Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Sikytadrew, and a son, James L. Jr., both of Joplin, Mo.; two companions, Kenneth Peterson and Merwin Bailey, both of St. Petersburg; and several nieces and nephews.     • MULHOLLAN, MARK SHEARER, 39, of St. Petersburg, died Friday, (June 30, 2000) at his home. A native of St. Louis, Mo., he lived in Atlanta and came here in 1996 from Tampa. He was a media analyst for Coca-Cola Co. for eight years and was the past president, vice president and treasurer of the Atlanta Media Planners Association. In Atlanta, he was a volunteer for Project Open Hands, delivering meals to homebound AIDS patients, and the Bridge Family Center, helping abused children.He was past president, vice president and a director of The Line of Tampa Bay Inc., was past secretary and a director of True Expressions and volunteered at the Florida International Museum. Survivors include his wife, Dora; three sons, James, Ed and Gary, all of St. Petersburg; seven daughters, Betty Garnand, Macon, Marie Raymer, Texas, Phyllis Buffkin, California, Vicky Espich, Ohio, Faye Jackson, Ocean Isle, N.C., Brenda Johnson, Canton, Ga., and L. Survivors include his wife, Gerri; three daughters, Fealonda Bradham and Junette Wiggins, both of St. Petersburg, and Pamela Wiggins, Lake City; a son, Cortez Swain, St. Petersburg; his mother, Ollie Thomas, O'Brien; two brothers, Milton, Daytona, and Ronald Harris, Atlanta; and two grandchildren.
