BESSET, CHRISTINE, 71, of Beverly Hills died Sunday (July 9, 2000). Born in Paterson, N.J., she came here 10 years ago from Ringwood, N.J., and was a former owner of a video store. She was Protestant. She was a member of the Pine Ridge Mixed Bowling League. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Pursley, Lecanto, and Connie Snell, Orlando; a brother, John Richards Jr., Beverly Hills; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. DOIDGE, CHESTER CARL, 82, of Lecanto died Saturday (July 8, 2000) at home. Born in Linton, Ind., he came here 18 years ago from Novi, Mich., and was a retired truck driver for Sears. He was Protestant. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 243 and a small plane pilot for 30 years. Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Lamb, West Bloomfield, Mich., Delores Parker, Crystal River, and Patricia Belttari, Lecanto; two sisters, Mary Hunter, Southfield, Mich., and Norma Hogg, Santa Maria, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. DOOLEY, MARY E., 87, of Inverness died Monday (July 10, 2000). Born in Roxbury, Mass., she came here four years ago from Beverly Hills. She was a secretary for the government and was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and its Catholic Women's Club, and its Widow and Widower Club, Beverly Hills. KOEHLER, EDWARD WILLARD, 88, of Inverness died Monday (July 10, 2000) at home. Born in Freeport, N.Y., he came here 24 years ago from North Babylon, N.Y. He was a master plumber for 50 years and a life member of the Plumbers Union 200, New York. He was Presbyterian. Survivors include his wife, Edith Mundy; three sons, Robert, Manorville, N.Y., Brian, New York, and Donald, Inverness; four daughters, Nancy Schill, Spring Hill, Carolyn and Kathleen Appell, both of Duncan, S.C., and Sheryl Losito, Long Island, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. PYLE, GORDON C., 82, of Homosassa died Sunday (July 9, 2000). Born in Ingham, Iowa, he came here 10 years ago from Fork Union, Va., and was a salesman for the Virginia Farm Bureau. He was Methodist. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Margaret T. ROBERTS, DOROTHY D., 72, of Lecanto died Sunday (July 9, 2000). Born in Thomasville, Ga., she came here 20 years ago from Miami. She was a retired teacher and member of the Beverly Hills First Baptist Church. WEILLS, DALLAS T., 76, of Crystal River died Sunday (July 9, 2000) at home. Born in Parkersburg, W.Va., he came here 15 years ago from Toledo, Ohio. He was a retired mechanic for Fruehauf Trailer Co., Toledo. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Blanton-Thompson American Legion Post 155 and its color guard, Crystal River. Survivors include his wife, Angela D. Born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., he came here 28 years ago from Albany, N.Y., and was a mechanical engineer in the heating and air conditioning industry. He was Lutheran and a 33rd-degree Mason. He was a retired inspector for TRW and a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. SMYER, JAMES D. "JIMMY," 66, of Spring Hill died Tuesday (July 4, 2000) at Spring Hill Regional Hospital. Born in Lewisburg, Ohio, he came here from Dayton, Ohio, and was a retired lineman for GTE. He was Christian. He was an Army veteran and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8681. He owned and operated Personnel & Labor Pool Inc. and was the former owner of Edon Enterprises & Medical Personnel Pool Inc. He was affiliated with Congregation Schaari Zedek, Kiwanis Club, was past president and former lieutenant governor for the state of Florida Kiwanis, past master of the Masonic Lodge of Glenview, Ill., Million Dollar Round Table at Connecticut General Life Insurance, National Association of Securities, Dealers and Arbitrator for New York Stock Exchange, received Kiwanian of the year, Lambda Chi, Eagle Scout, LifeLink board of directors, Army captain, Service Corporation of Retired Executives, and president of Gomer Hunting Club. He was a Navy veteran and served in the Korean War. He worked for Bobcat of Tampa Bay until 1998 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Brandon. EVANS, CARL THOMAS, 61, of Zephyrhills, formerly of Tampa, died Friday (July 7, 2000) at Hospice House, Dade City. Born in Benton Harbor, Mich., he came to the Tampa Bay area 22 years ago from Charleston, S.C. He was a retired chief petty officer in the Navy and was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was Protestant. He was a retired Air Force veteran. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church and served as director of the Children on Missions, the Girls in Action, a Sunday school teacher, director of the Pasco Baptist Association WMU, a houseparent for the Abilene Boys Ranch and the West Texas Boys Ranch, a volunteer for the Buckner Boys Ranch, owner and assistant director of the Tumbleweed Boys Ranch, and a member of the Texas Youth Commission. She was a seamstress for International Ladies Garment Workers Union, Union City, N.J., and a member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, the Italian-American Club, both of New Port Richey, and the Knights of Columbus, Port Richey. COTE, RAOUL G. "RALPH," 73, of Hudson, died Friday (July 7, 2000). Born in Sanford, Maine, he was employed at the Sanford Mills until it closed in 1954. He worked in the maintenance department of the Sanford Post Office for 30 years, retiring in 1989. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Sanford, and was an institute representative who sponsored Boy Scout Troup 377. He was a lineman and serviceman for the Florida Power Corp. and a member of the First Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Wildwood Masonic Lodge and a Sunday school teacher for men for more than 50 years. MIDKIFF, THOMAS NEAL, 64, of New Port Richey, died Sunday (July 9, 2000) at home. Born in Charleston, W.Va., he came here 35 years ago from Biloxi, Miss. He was a machinist who worked in manufacturing commercial gas tanks. He was Methodist. He was a former fire chief for 12 years for the Moon Lake Volunteer Fire Department, president of the West Pasco Little League for five years, and a coach and manager of the Pasco County Softball. Survivors include four sons, Timothy N., New Port Richey, Steven C., Bayonet Point, Shane C., Brooksville, and Dana W., Port Richey; three daughters, Shawna G., New Port Richey, Kelly D., Clearwater, and Paige S. - MORGAN, BARBARA ELLEN, 52, of Ozark, Ala., formerly of St. Petersburg, died Saturday (July 8, 2000) at home. She came here in 1976 from her native Paterson, N.J., and moved to Ozark six months ago from Dothan, Ala. She graduated from nursing school in Tampa. She moved in 1986 to Dothan where she worked for Wesley Manor for 11 years. - NICOLOSI, YOLANDA "JUNE," 74, of St. Petersburg, died Monday (July 10, 2000) at Hospice House Woodside. She came here in 1962 from her native Haverhill, Mass. She was a banquet waitress for more than 20 years at the Princess Martha and Hilton hotels. She was a member of the Sons of Italy, Gulfport. - PRAGER, MAXINE "MAX," of St. Petersburg, died Sunday (July 9, 2000) at Swanholm Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in El Dorado Springs, Mo., she came here in 1980 from Falls Church, Va. She was a member of the Women's Chamber of Commerce, the St. Petersburg Women's Club, the American Association of University Women, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the Stuart Society. She was a member of the Florida Orchestra Guild, the Interlocken Orchestra Guild, the Past Presidents Club, and the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a volunteer at All Children's Hospital. She was a homemaker and was Protestant. Survivors include a cousin, Nira Schreen, Missouri. She was a retired clerical supervisor for the probation and parole department of the Florida Department of Corrections, Pinellas and Pasco counties.
