  • BOETTCHER, JAMES S., 90, of Crystal River, died Thursday (July 13, 2000) at Cypress Cove Care Center, Crystal River. He came here two years ago from his native Wymore, Neb. He was owner/operator of Boettcher Plumbing, Heating, and Hardware and also ran the 40-acre family farm, both in Wymore. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Crystal River, the United Methodist Church, the volunteer fire department, the chamber of commerce, all in Wymore, and a founding member of the Lions Club and the Wymore Country Club. Survivors include his wife, Marion; two sons, Jim, Crystal River, and Bob, Buffalo, Texas; two daughters, Janet Moore, Summerfield, N.C., and Laura Barnes, Medford, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. He was a member of the IBEW Local 24 Retirees Club and the Crystal River Moose Lodge 2013. Born in Shamokin, Pa., she was a cosmetic salesperson for Bowman's Department Store, Harrisburg, Pa., with 20 years of service. She was a former member, Eucharistic minister, and choir member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, Spring Hill, and a member of its women's guild, the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary Council 6383, and former president of the National Council of Catholic Women. Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne B. Flick, Lancaster, Pa., and Christianne B. Jones, Newport Beach, Calif.; a brother, John R. He worked 45 years for Warren-Lloyd furniture manufacturer in Paterson, N.J., and retired as a foreman. He was a member of Light of Christ Catholic Church, Clearwater. A native of Providence, R.I., he came to Florida in 1954 from Warwick, R.I., and lived in Gulfport from 1965 to 1994, when he moved to Madeira Beach. He was a carpenter and a Mason and a member of Egypt Shrine Temple in Tampa, Scottish Rite Valley of Tampa, Holiday Isle Elks Lodge 1912 in Madeira Beach and the American Legion. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth F.; a brother, William T., Warwick; and three sisters, Glenna Downs, Lincoln, R.I., and Marilyn Leach and Loretta Coogan, both of Warwick.     • VOLKMER, HELEN F., 74, of Largo, died Thursday (July 13, 2000) at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater. She was born in New York City and came here in 1969 from Long Island, N.Y. She was a retired telephone operator. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, St. Pete Beach. She was a Redington Beach town commissioner from 1976 to 1979. She was a soccer commissioner for the American Youth Soccer Organization from 1975 to 1979 and a volunteer at St. Anthony's Hospital, St. Petersburg, from 1988 to 1990.
