KRIEKEL, HENRY, 88, of Hernando died Saturday (July 15, 2000). Born in Renville, Minn., he came here 14 years ago from Chicago, and was a retired supervisor in corn refinement. He was Lutheran. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a life member of the American Legion Post 735, Argo, Ill. Survivors include his wife, Florence Sanden; a son, William, Oak Lawn, Ill.; two daughters, Arlene Boedecker, Hickory Hills, Ill., and Shirley, Brookfield, Ill.; a brother, Walter, Park Ridge, Ill.; and three grandchildren. MITCHELL, THOMAS EDWARD, 75, of Beverly Hills died Saturday (July 15, 2000). Born in Naugatuck, Conn., he came here 13 years ago from Parsippany, N.J. He was a service representative for a steel company and a member and Eucharistic minister of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Beverly Hills. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Knights of Columbus, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10087. PIAZZA, JOSEPH E. JR., 57, of Spring Hill died Friday (July 14, 2000) at home. Born in Freeport, N.Y., he came here eight years ago from Suffolk County, N.Y. He was a retired Nassau County police officer and a Marine Corps veteran. Survivors include his wife, Geraldine; a son, Joseph E. SWAN, ROBERT K., 77, of Inverness died Sunday (July 16, 2000). He came here 10 years ago from his native Binghamton, N.Y. and was a retired electroplater for General Electric. He was Protestant and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, Binghamton, the Philatelist Society, and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Binghamton. WATERVAL, DOROTHY G., 90, of Beverly Hills died Monday (July 17, 2000). Born in Freeport, N.Y., she came here 34 years ago from Brooklyn, N.Y. She was a retired executive secretary for the Woolworth Co. and a member and financial secretary of the Beverly Hills Community Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 65, Inverness, the Extension Ladies Guild, the NARFE 1714, the Diabetic Association, Inverness Chapter, the Friends of Beverly Hills Library, the Beverly Hills Civic Association, and cofounder of the King County PTA, New York. GARDINER, CHRISTOPHER M., 40, of Spring Hill died Saturday (July 15, 2000) at home. Born in Boston, he came here 11 years ago from Westbrook, Maine, and was retired from the Air Force. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10209, Spring Hill, the Transplant Recipient International Organization, and the Living Historians. He was also a volunteer for the Boy Scout Troop 419 in Spring Hill and Camp Sunshine, a camp for children with cancer. Survivors include his wife, Carol Metivier-Gardiner; a son, Eric Wilcox, Cullowhee, N.C.; a daughter, Alyssa Metivier, Spring Hill; his parents, William and Marjorie Gardiner, Camden, Maine; and a sister, Beth McNeece, Lolo, Mont. HAUSER, HERMAN J., 91, of Spring Hill died Monday (July 17, 2000) at home. He came here 15 years ago as a winter resident from Erie, Pa., and became a permanent resident five years ago. He was retired from the Erie Brewing Co. and was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, the Sunshine Club and past president of the Erie Brewery Workers, Cigar Makers, and Distillers Union. LINCH, KATHLEEN, 84, of Brooksville died Sunday (July 16, 2000) at Eastbrook Health Care Center. Born in Lansing, Mich., she came here four years ago from Atlanta and was a retired bookkeeper. McGUIRK, CLAYTON G., 85, of Brooksville died Saturday (July 15, 2000). Born in Canaan, N.Y., he came here 28 years ago from Massachusetts. He was Methodist and a member of the VFW, Spring Hill. He was a retired warehouse supervisor for an automobile glass distributorship and an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include a son, John R. THALMAN, GEORGE NORMAN III, 51, of Bushnell died Thursday (July 13, 2000), the result of an automobile accident. He was the owner of TTL Trucking Co., Bushnell. He was affiliated with Sigma Nu Fraternity, a member of Hillsborough Masonic Lodge No. 25, F&AM, Tampa York Rite Masonic Bodies, Tampa Consistory Scottish Rite, Swedish Convent Mission, a former member of Temple Terrace Chamber of Commerce and a member of Temple Terrace United Methodist Church. He was an asbestos insulator in the building industry and a Navy veteran. He was Protestant. - CRAWFORD, JAY K., 55, of St. Petersburg, died Sunday (July 16, 2000) of cancer at home under hospice care. Born in Winchester, Ky., he came here in 1965 from Middlesboro, Ky., where he was a 1963 graduate of Middlesboro High School. He was a telephone engineer for AT&T and worked for 25 years for GTE. He was Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Sandra; a daughter, Rebecca Jayne Delph, St. Petersburg; two sons, Troy, Mildenhall, England, and Jason Prine, Atlanta; his mother, Gerti Crawford, St. Petersburg; a brother, Jack, Carlsbad, Calif.; and six grandchildren. - ENNIS, CLOTHILDE McGHEE, 82, of St. Petersburg, died Friday (July 14, 2000) at Bayfront Medical Center. She came here 81 years ago from her native Worthy County, Ga. She was a self-employed beautician. She was a member of First Baptist Institutional Church. - FENTON, RUTH, 88, of St. Petersburg, died Sunday (July 16, 2000) at Palm Gardens of Largo. Born in Bronx, N.Y., she came here in 1974 from Pound Ridge, N.Y. She was a fashion model in New York. - FLAHERTY, WALTER L., 82, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday (July 15, 2000) at Hospice House Woodside, Pinellas Park. Born in Washington, D.C., he came here from Atlanta. He was a Merchant Marine veteran of World War II and sailed the Atlantic, the Caribbean and Indian oceans and the Mediterranean. He was employed by Tampa Ship Repair and Drydock and was a member of Hillsborough Masonic Lodge. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Roberts, Colorado; and two grandchildren. - FLETCHER, MURRAY C., 76, of St. Petersburg, died Friday (July 14, 2000) at Palm Garden of Largo. Born in Royalton, Minn., he came here in 1971 from New York City. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. He retired in 1971 as vice president after 25 years with Sperry and Hutchinson Co., New York City, and as chairman of the board for its Detroit subsidiary. He was trustee emeritus of King's College, Briarcliff Manor, N.Y., and trustee for American Mission to Greeks International, Chattanooga, Tenn. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church, St. Petersburg, and served as chairman of the board of Northside Christian School. He was founder of Thrift and Gift, a store benefiting the school. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Dorothy "Dot"; two daughters, Nancy G. Weber, St. Petersburg, and Peggy S. Summers, New Port Richey; and five grandchildren. R. - KONSTANTINOVICH, GEORGE, 89, of St. Petersburg, died Monday (July 17, 2000) . Born in Akron, Ohio, he grew up in Yugoslavia and came here in 1976 from New York City, where he was a maintenance engineer. He attended Seventh-day Adventist Church, St. Petersburg. She was a member and church organist for many years at Reformation Church in Rochester and the Ladies of Damascus Temple. - SMITH, HOWARD M., 71, of St. Petersburg, died Sunday (July 16, 2000) at St. Petersburg General Hospital. He came here this year from his native Losantville, Ind. He was a certified landman for the petroleum industry. He received a master of business administration degree in 1956 from Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, and was a professor of data processing at Indiana University, Fort Wayne, Ind. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survivors include his wife, Millacene; two sons, Karl Jay Smith, Australia, and Walter G. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, St. Petersburg. He was a woodcarver. - SYRKETT, ANNETTE "BOOTS," 74, of St. Petersburg, died Sunday (July 16, 2000) at Bay Point Nursing Pavilion. She was born in St. Petersburg and taught in the Pinellas County School System for 25 years, retiring in 1984. She taught at 16th Street Junior High School and Dixie Hollins and Boca Ciega high schools. She was a nominee in 1977 for Pinellas County teacher of the year. During the 1962-1963 school year, she was selected to the National Science Foundation's Academic Year Institute in Science at Michigan State University. She received science research fellowships from Washington University and Penn State University. She graduated from Howard Academy, Ocala, in 1943, and received a bachelor of science degree in home economics from Clark College, now Clark Atlanta University, in 1947 and a master's degree in general science from Virginia State University, Petersburg, Va., in 1965. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was a founding member of the St. Petersburg alumnae chapter of Delta Sigma Theta. Survivors include a son, Gerald, and a great uncle, Ervin Johnson, both of St. Petersburg, and four cousins, Veronica Johnson Bonfant, Burke, Va., Jamal Rashad, Ladysmith, Va., Bonnie Herring, Lake Wales, and Lamerril Johnson, Ocala. - UPPERMAN, MARIO NELSON, 85, of St. Petersburg, died Wednesday (July 12, 2000) at Colonial Care Center, St. Petersburg. Born in New York City, he came here in 1962 from Washington, D.C. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He retired after 20 years as a court officer with the Court of General Sessions of the District of Columbia. - WEISBERG, DR. AARON, 84, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday (July 15, 2000) at Palm Garden of Largo. He came here in 1976 from his native Brooklyn, N.Y. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a practicing physician for 60 years. He was a graduate of New York University and University of Cincinnati Medical School. He was on the staffs of St. Petersburg General Hospital, Palms of Pasadena Hospital and VA Medical Center at Bay Pines, and was medical director at Carson C. Peck Memorial Hospital, New York City. He was a professor at the University of South Florida at Tampa. He was a member of Temple Beth-El, Pinellas County Medical Association and Seminole Lake Golf Club. Survivors include two daughters, Harlene Weisberg-Zurn, Seminole, and Sharon Shapiro, Bedford, N.Y.; a brother, Norman Weisberg, Marco Island; a nephew, Leonard G. - WHITE, N.J. "JIMMIE," 78, of New Port Richey, formerly of St. Petersburg, died Saturday (July 15, 2000) at Community Hospital New Port Richey. Born in East Bernstadt, Ky., he moved to New Port Richey 27 years ago from St. Petersburg. He owned Jimmie White Trucking, St. Petersburg and New Port Richey. He was an Army veteran of World War II, former member of the Civilian Conservation Corps, and member of Sunshine Lodge 288 F&AM, St. Petersburg. - WILLIAMS, CUNNIE RAY, 48, of St. Petersburg, died Sunday (July 16, 2000) at Edward White Hospital. Born in Savannah, Ga., he came here in 1972 from Rochester, N.Y. He was employed for 18 years by W.L. Cobbs Construction Co. and was a material handler for five years for GTE Printing Co. He was a member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, where he sang with the male chorus and the Faithful Five gospel singers.
