Residents edgy over danger of sinkholes

Homeowners in Crystal Oaks say they were kept in the dark about the possibilities of sinkholes, such as the ones that appeared in a stormwater retention area.

No one was seriously injured in the afternoon blaze.

Four boys arrested in burglaries
CRYSTAL RIVER -- Four Crystal River boys -- two of them 9 years old, the others 10 and 13 -- were arrested on multiple burglary counts Tuesday in connection with four burglaries in the W Sunny Day Court area. Among the items taken from the homes were ice cream cones, chocolate syrup, a dartboard, jewelry and a small television, officers reported.

Fog offers runners a little bit of relief
CHIEFLAND -- On Wednesday, Sheriff Jeff Dawsy brought along extra feet to run in the annual Key Training Center Run For the Money. Those feet belonged to Cmdr. Bob Blume and Sgt. Greg Farrell.

CRYSTAL RIVER -- Scott Jackson, a new Lecanto High School ninth-grader, was eager to get started on his required 75 hours community service to qualify for a Bright Futures Scholarship for college when he graduates. He has already spent nearly four weeks at it.
