BROWNING, MARY F., 86, of Lecanto, died Friday (July 21, 2000) at Cypress Cove Care Center. Born in Acton, Ind., she came here four years ago from Fern Park. She was a Protestant. Survivors include two sons, Edgar, Melbourne, and Ron, Lecanto; a daughter, Sally Pearson, Punta Gorda; a sister, Jane Flagle, Indianapolis; and several grandchildren. COOK, BEATRICE MAY ROSS, 90, of Crystal River, died Thursday (July 20, 2000) at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness. Born in Somerville, Mass., she came here 40 years ago from Winchester, Mass. She was co-founder and honorary board chairwoman of the Concord Litho Group of Concord, N.H., a member of the Plantation Golf Club and the Seven Rivers Golf Club of Cyrstal River, and a major supporter of the Crystal River Library. GILLETT, JESSE, 80, of Inverness, died Saturday (July 22, 2000). Born in Breezy Hill, Kan., he came here 15 years ago from Lecanto, and was retired after 30 years as a welder for the American Bridge Company of Indiana. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was Protestant. WAGNER, IVA LEE, 90, of Old Town, formerly of St. Petersburg, died Friday (July 21, 2000) in Crystal River. Born in Point Washington, she came to St. Petersburg in 1925 from Old Town, where she returned in 1979. She was a member of McCrabb Baptist Church, Old Town, and was a former member of Clearview Baptist Church. ANTHONY, PHIFER E., 66, of Spring Hill, died Thursday (July 20, 2000) at Spring Hill Regional Hospital. Born in Boligee, Ala., he came here seven years ago from Fairfax, Va. He was an Army veteran and a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Alice; two sons, George Wiggins and Antonio Wiggins; two daughters, Pamela Jorner and Patricia Martin; a brother, Robert; two sisters, Lucinda Green and Geraldine Smith; and four grandchildren. CONDOR, ALFRED S., 74, of Spring Hill, died Friday (July 21, 2000) at home. Born in Windsor Heights, W.Va., he came here seven years ago from Wheeling, W.Va., and was a welder for American Electric Power. He was a member of Nativity Lutheran Church, Weeki Wachee. BRUNER, JOHN W. SR., 85, of Brandon, died Saturday (July 22, 2000) at the Cypress Creek Assisted Living Facility. Born in Pittsburgh, he came to the area in 1980. He was a member of Nativity Catholic Church in Brandon. Survivors include two sons, John, Ruskin, and Don, Pittsburgh; two brothers, George and James, both of Pittsburgh; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. FERNANDEZ, BRANDY MARIE BRILL, 26, of Tampa, died Saturday (July 22, 2000). Born here, she remained a lifelong resident. She was a nurses' aide for the Hillsborough County Health Department and a Baptist. FLORES, ELENA ISABEL, 73, of Tampa, died Friday (July 21, 2000) at home. Born in Guatemala, she came here this year. She was a homemaker and a Catholic. HERRING, ROSEMARY J., 76, of Tampa, died Friday (July 21, 2000) at University Community Hospital on Fletcher. Born in Indianapolis, she came here 40 years ago. HUERTA, OLGA C., 78, of Tampa, died Friday (July 21, 2000) at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Cuba, she came here in 1993. She was a homemaker. JIMENEZ, RAUL S., 42, of Tampa, died Saturday (July 22, 2000) at Tampa General Hospital. Born in Massachusetts, he came here in 1993. He was a self-employed upholsterer. MATTHEWS, ERRON, 21, of Valrico, died Friday (July 21, 2000) at Tampa General Hospital. Born in Fort Myers, he came here in 1987. He worked in sales for A-Copier. He enjoyed herpetology, played youth football with the Brandon Bears, and was a bodybuilder. PLUMMER, BONNIE B., 69, of Tampa, died Saturday (July 22, 2000). Born in Rockford, Ill., she came here 55 years ago. She was a dispatcher for GTE and an Army veteran of the Korean conflict. SCOTT, ELOIS "DOLL," , of Tampa, formerly of St. Petersburg, died Monday (July 17, 2000). She moved to Tampa in the 1950s from her native St. Petersburg. She was an accomplished pianist, organist and vocalist. Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Leonard Sr.; a son, Leonard Jr.; two sisters, Renda Dixon, St. Petersburg, and Lucille Hill, Tampa; two grandchildren, Lisa House and Leonard Scott III, both of Atlanta; a nephew; six nieces; several grandnieces and grandnephews; and cousins. SPOSARO, VINCENT, 19, of Valrico, died Friday (July 21, 2000). Born in Voorhees, N.J., he came here in 1997 from Erial, N.J. EASTMAN, JAMES O. "JIM", 74, of Bayonet Point, died Friday (July 21, 2000) at home. Born in Wyandotte, Mich., he came here 13 years ago from Southgate, Mich., and was a retired iron worker. BOYER, ROBERT, 73, of Clearwater died Saturday (July 22, 2000) at Spanish Gardens Nursing and Convalescent Center, Dunedin. He was born in Bellingham, Wash., and came here in 1979 from the Panama Canal Zone, where he worked as communication manager for the Panama Canal Co. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was Protestant and a member, past grand exalted ruler and past district deputy of Elks Lodge 1414, the Seminole Country Club and Golf Association, the Diablos and several Canal Zone hunt clubs and the Balboa Panama Yacht Club. Survivors include his wife, Betty; a son, Robert R., Panama Canal Zone; a daughter, Meredith Broussard, Miami; a sister, Barbara B. Slover, Seminole; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She retired as an operator for the Manitoba Telephone Co. She was Presbyterian, a member of Greenbriar Ladies Club and a trophy winning bowler. Survivors include several nieces and nephews in Canada. LACK, RUTH W., 86, of Clearwater, died Saturday (July 22, 2000) at Mease Dunedin Hospital. She was born in North Bennington, Vt., and came here in 1969 from Bennington. She graduated from Potsdam State College. She was a teacher and locally she worked as a substitute teacher at North Ward and South Ward elementary schools, Clearwater. - LANGFORD, CATHERINE NAOMA, 89, of Largo, formerly of St. Petersburg, died Friday (July 21, 2000) at Hospice House Woodside, Pinellas Park. A Washington, D.C., native, she came to St. Petersburg in 1958 from Silver Spring, Md., before moving to Largo in 1999. She was a sewing instructor for 25 years at the Singer Co., St. Petersburg. She was a member of the St. Petersburg China Painting Guild. She was a former member of Holy Family Catholic Church, and was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Survivors include two daughters, Joan Catherine Athey, Largo, and Margaret Jean Libby, Gray, Maine; a son, Joseph William, Franklin, N.C.; two sisters, Rita Marie Risler, Largo, and Margaret M. He was born in Rochester, N.Y., and came here in 1976 from Greece, N.Y., where he worked as a construction foreman and was a volunteer member of the Barnard Fire Department. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion in Fairhaven, N.Y. Survivors include a son, Harry, Franklin, N.C.; a niece, Wanda Spitz, Spencerport, N.Y.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. - O'BRIEN, LENA, 62, a winter resident of Largo, died Friday (July 21, 2000) at her home in Jardineville, New Brunswick. She was an annual resident since 1991 and retired in 1987 from Simplex Time Recorder. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church of Rexton, New Brunswick, and ALANON. Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Roger; a son, Ronald, Gardner, Mass.; two daughters, Jeanette Vellegas of California, and Donna McMilleon of Massachusetts; and five grandchildren. - SHANKLE, MARY LEE, of Largo, formerly of St. Petersburg, died Thursday (July 20, 2000) in Clayton, Ga., as the result of an automobile accident. A St. Petersburg native, she lived here most of her life before moving to Largo in 1994. She was a 1946 graduate of St. Petersburg High School and vice president of the SPHS Alumni Group from 1986 to 1996. Survivors include four sons, Michael, Murphy, N.C., Patrick, Belleview, Mo., Timothy, Tiger, Ga., and Mark, Largo; a brother, Robert K. Stamner, Riverview; a sister, Muriel A. - BARGA, HILDA AUGUSTA, 89, of Seminole, died Friday (July 21, 2000) at Freedom Square Nursing Center, Seminole. She came here in 1972 from her native Dayton, Ohio, where she retired after 16 years as clerk of the Board of Montgomery County Commissioners. Survivors include a brother, Marvin E. - HUMPAL, JAMES E., 52, of Seminole, died Wednesday (July 19, 2000) in an accident at the corner of 91st Street and Park Boulevard, Pinellas Park. He came here in 1974 from his native Detroit and worked as a claims adjuster. He was Methodist. Survivors include a son, Jefferey, and a daughter, Jillian Humpal, both of Seminole; his companion, Ann Coryn, St. Petersburg; a nephew; and three nieces. E. - LEVERICH, ROBERT WILLIAM, 80, of Tarpon Springs, formerly of Clearwater and Kenneth City, died Friday (July 21, 2000) at Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital, Tarpon Springs. He was born in Danville, Ill., came to Kenneth City in 1952 from Milwaukee, moved in 1991 to Clearwater and in 1992 he came to Tarpon Springs. He retired as chief sanitary engineer after 26 years with the city of St. Petersburg in wastewater treatment. He was an Army veteran of World War II with the rank of technical sergeant. He was Protestant and a former member of the Florida Water Pollution Control Association. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Mary E.; three sons, Larry A. Smith, Seminole, Jeffrey L. - LaSALLE, LOUIS W., 79, of St. Petersburg, died Friday (July 21, 2000) at Suncoast Manor Health Center. Born in Louisville, Colo., he came here in 1975 from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He was a retired Air Force brigadier general, who served in the Vietnam War and World War II, and served as the deputy chief of staff of personnel at the Headquarters Aerospace Defense Command in Colorado. He was a 1963 graduate of the University of Wyoming, where he earned his bachelor of arts degree. He was a flying instructor and pilot in the Army Air Forces in the early 1940s, before returning to active duty in the Air Force in 1948. He graduated from the Air Traffic and Control School, Washington, D.C., and assisted during the Berlin Airlift while stationed in Germany. He was an exchange officer with the Royal Canadian Air Force, serving as an interceptor controller with the 5th Air Division, Vancouver, British Columbia.
