VIGOR, BERNIE S., 74, of Holder, died Tuesday (July 25, 2000). Born in Boston, he came here 11 years ago from Peabody, Mass. He was a retired salesman and union shop steward for United Liquors Ltd. and dedicated staff associate of Fero Funeral Home for seven years. He was a doctor of podiatry, graduating from the Beacon Institute of Podiatry, Boston. He was a member and past president of the Congregation Beth Shalom, Beverly Hills, the Temple Ner Tamid, Peabody, and the Peabody Lodge of B'nai Brith. He was a member and past noble grand of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Massachusetts, and a member of the Aleppo Temple Shrine, Boston, and the Dunnellon Masonic Lodge 114. WOOD, FRED "JOSH," 81, of Homosassa, died Monday (July 24, 2000). Born in Florence, S.C., he came here seven years ago from Ellenton and was a general contractor. COOK, EULA R., 75, of Brooksville, died Tuesday (July 25, 2000). Born in Millhousen, Ind., she came here 18 years ago from Miami and was a sales clerk for Sears. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 8713. OSSANNA, ADOLPH G. "DUFFY," 83, of Spring Hill, died Monday (July 24, 2000) at home. Born in New York City, he came here 15 years ago from Milwaukee. He was a retired engineer for General Motors. BARTA, MILDRED W., 84, of Brandon, died Thursday (July 20, 2000) at Integrated Health Services of Brandon. Born in Toms River, N.J., she came here in 1993 from Ocean Springs, Miss. She was a self-employed, registered dietitian and was a member of Nativity Catholic Church. Survivors include three sons, Frank Jr., Los Angeles, Richard, South Hobart, Tazmania, and Matthew, Brandon; two daughters, Carol A. BONDI, MANUEL CHARLES, 85, of Tampa, died Monday (July 24, 2000). He was a steel worker for Ameristeel, an elder at Ybor City Presbyterian Church, was affiliated with St. John Presbyterian Church, was a member of the Elks Club and was a member of the Boilermaker Union. CASTERA, SILVIO JOSEPH, 88, of Valrico, died Tuesday (July 25, 2000). Born in Bridgeport, Conn., he came here in 1996 from Fairfield, Conn. He was a physician, a board member of St. Vincent Hospital and a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church, Stratford, Conn. CLARK, CORBIT, 66, of Plant City, died Sunday (July 23, 2000). Born in Coolidge, Ga., he came here in 1962 from Georgia. He was a heavy-machine operator, an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a Baptist. CRAIG, JOHN P. "STONEY," 81, of Tampa, died Monday (July 24, 2000), at Memorial Hospital. Born in Moline, Ill., he came here in 1948 from Michigan. He was a real estate broker and an Army veteran of World War II. He belonged to Hyde Park United Methodist Church, Fellowship Lodge No. 265 F & AM and Egypt Temple Shrine. JORDAN, THOMAS JEFFERSON, 83, of New Port Richey, formerly of Tampa, died Saturday (July 22, 2000) at Community Hospital of New Port Richey. Born in Homerville, Ga., he moved to New Port Richey 43 years ago from Tampa and was a heavy-equipment operator for Bill Boyce Developers, New Port Richey. He was Baptist and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Chester McCay Post, New Port Richey, and the West Pasco Men's Bowling League. MICHAEL, ROBIN, 55, of Largo, formerly of Thonotosassa, died Thursday (July 20, 2000) at home. She was born in Detroit and moved to Largo in 1998 from Thonotosassa. SOUDER, RICHARD B. "DICK," 79, of Tampa, died Tuesday (July 25, 2000) at home under the care of LifePath Hospice. Born in Washington, D.C., he came here in 1953. He was a cabinetmaker, a member of AmVets No. 4, the VWF and the American Legion, Maryland. He served in the Coast Guard, Navy and Army, and served in the Korean Conflict, He was a member of the Honor Guard. BRIGHTON, WILLADENE MARDELL, 73, of Columbus, Ind., formerly of Clearwater, died Sunday (July 23, 2000) at home. She was born in Huntington, Ind., and lived in Clearwater for several years. She was a registered nurse and retired after 27 years at Columbus Regional Hospital. She graduated from Methodist School of Nursing, Fort Wayne, Ind. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Columbus, and the First Lutheran Church Women and United Church Women's groups, the Embroiderers Guild of America, and a former member of Sweet Adelines and Modern Homemakers. Survivors include a son, James Michael, Woodbridge, Va.; two daughters, Jean Ellen Groebe, Sturgis, Mich., and Patricia Ann Toney, Richmond, Ind.; two brothers, Edwin O. HENDERSON, BETSY "BETT," 74, of Clearwater, died Monday (July 24, 2000). She was born in Kirkcaldy, Scotland, and came here in 1978 from Oak Forest, Ill. She was a registered nurse. ROBERTS, DAVID M., 80, of Clearwater, died Monday (July 24, 2000) at Integrated Health Services of Clearwater. He was born in Creston, Iowa, and came here in 1961 from Los Angeles. He was a mechanical engineer and worked 35 years for Honeywell. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Kiwanis Club, both of Clearwater. SCHMALZ, JOHN P., 89, of Clearwater, died Tuesday (July 25, 2000) at home. He was born in Mansfield, Ohio, and came here in 1977 from Chicago. He worked as a meat cutter and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was Catholic. Survivors include a son, John A., Oldsmar; a daughter, Kathleen McCamant, Muskegon, Mich.; and six grandchildren, James, Mark and Matthew McCamant, and Susan Kuharevicz, Amy Reimann and Lisa Schmalz. SWANN, REV. SANFORD E., 94, of Clearwater, died Monday (July 24, 2000) at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater. He was born in Jefferson County, Tenn., and came here in 1999 from Knoxville, Tenn. He was a minister and served Southern Baptist Convention churches in east Tennessee, including Ducktown, Pleasant Grove, Niota, Corryton, Bulls Gap and John Sevier. He graduated from Carson-Newman College and Southwestern Theological Seminary. THOMSON, EDITH M., 91, of Clearwater Beach, died Friday (July 21, 2000) at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater. She was born in England and came here in 1967 from Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from Potsdam State College. She was a teacher and locally she worked as a substitute teacher at North Ward and South Ward elementary schools, Clearwater. Survivors include two sons, Phillip Terry Thomson, Denver, and Robert B. Thomson, Tampa; six grandchildren, Bradley, Brian, Andrea, Christian, Chad and Courtney Thomson; and four great-grandchildren. WESTERKAMP, CHARLOTTE M., 79, of Clearwater, died Monday (July 24, 2000) at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater. She came here in 1981 from her native Cincinnati. She was a homemaker and a member of Hoffner OES Chapter 286, Cincinnati. Survivors include a daughter, Pat Traylor, Clearwater; a son, Edmund, Cincinnati; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson. - FERRER, EDGAR V., 53, of Dunedin, died Wednesday (July 26, 2000) at home. He was born in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico, and came here in 1999 from Pocono, Pa. He worked as a supervisor for 18 years with United Parcel Service in New York. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and received two Bronze Stars. He was a member of American Legion Post 346 and VFW Post 254, both of East Stroudsburg, Pa., and American Legion Post 275 and Council 5635 Knights of Columbus, Dunedin. - BLAKE, ROY A. SR., 89, of Largo, died Monday (July 24, 2000) at Largo Medical Center. He was born in New Haven, Conn., and came here from Branford, Conn., where he was a building contractor for 35 years and retired as president of Blake-Miller Corp. Survivors include a son, Roy Jr., and a daughter, Barbara Blake, both of East Haven, Conn.; four sisters, Florence Gartland and Irene Bree, both of Maryland, and Ruth Shea and Claire Malone, both of Hamden, Conn.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren National Cremation Society, Largo.
- McMILLAN, FRANCES V., 91, of Largo, died Friday (July 21, 2000) at Pembrook Place II, Clearwater, under the care of Hospice of the Florida Suncoast. She was born in Hertogenbosch, Holland, and came here in 1972 from Wollaston, Mass. She worked as a freight handler for a railway express and was Catholic. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Francis R.; a son, Edward Burke, Largo; two daughters, Jean Burke Magoon and Margaret Burke Stanley, both of South Boston, Mass.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. - TANZEY, FRANKLIN LEE, 60, of Vienna, W.Va., a winter resident of Largo, died Monday (July 24, 2000) at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg, W.Va. He was born in Harrisville, W.Va., and was a winter resident here for several years. He owned and operated Frank's, a retail store in Parkersburg, and formerly worked as a truck driver for Mayflower, Lambert Trucking and Blount Brothers Corp., and as a foreman for Walker Inc., all in West Virginia. He was a member of Calvary Memorial Church of Parkersburg and the Parkersburg Moose Lodge. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Rose Marie Brohard; two brothers, Jim and Gene, both of Harrisville; two sisters, Sylvia Cutright, Harrisville, and Mary Cox, Pullman, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews. - TYLER, HOLCOLM M., 81, of Largo, died Wednesday (July 26, 2000) at home under the care of Hospice of the Florida Suncoast. He was born in Waycross, Ga., and came here in 1983 from Chicago, where he worked as an electrician. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, June; a son, Robert D., Pensacola; a daughter, Nancy Lee Tyler, Beecher, Ill.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. - HARRIS, DORIS PALMER, 92, of Palm Harbor, died Saturday (July 22, 2000) at home. She came here in 1970 from her native Deerfield, Mass., where she retired as a telephone operator for New England Telephone. She was a volunteer for 22 years at the Palm Harbor Library. She was Protestant and a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. - KARAS, MARION, 84, of Palm Harbor, formerly of Tarpon Springs and Clearwater, died Wednesday (July 26, 2000) at Encore Senior Village, Clearwater. She was born in Kalymnos, Greece, and came to Clearwater in 1967 from Gary, Ind. She moved in 1976 to Tarpon Springs and in 1985 to Palm Harbor. She was a homemaker and formerly owned and operated the Gary Supermarket for many years in Gary. She was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Tarpon Springs. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Rizzo and Greta Kampouris, and two sisters, Angeline Duvlaris and Katherine Kypros, all of Palm Harbor; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was an artist for the movie industry. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. He graduated from Blair Academy, Blairstown, N.J. - PAYNE, ULYS L. "DICK," 71, of Chassahowitzka, formerly of Safety Harbor, died Sunday (July 23, 2000) at Seven Rivers Community Hospital, Crystal River. He was born in Cross City and moved to Chassahowitzka in 1978 from Safety Harbor. He worked 29 years for the city of Clearwater in the traffic engineering department. He was Protestant and an Air Force veteran. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; a son, Kevin, Lakeland; two daughters, Jennifer Bradley, Crystal River, and Karen Hansen, Brooksville; two brothers, Charlie, Sopchoppy, and Joe, New Port Richey; three sisters, Gillette Bronson, Sopchoppy, Alva Davis, New Port Richey, and Wanda Welch, Fanning Springs; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. - HAYES, MILDRED "MID," 90, of Seminole, died Saturday (July 22, 2000) at Northside Hospital and Heart Institute after a long illness. She came here in 1966 from her native Indianapolis. She worked as a bookkeeper for 44 years at Bible Book Stores, Quickie Food Stores and elsewhere. She was a member of North East Park Baptist Church and the church's Singing Saints. She was a volunteer at Roberts Community Center and a past worthy matron of Southport Chapter OES 442. Survivors include a great-niece, Cindy Manion, Sun City Center. - McGILL, LLOYD H.R. "MAC," 82, of Seminole, died Wednesday (July 26, 2000) at home. He was born in Thermont, Md., and came here in 1983 from Ponce, Puerto Rico. He was a civil engineer and an American Society of Professional Engineers Fellow. He worked in New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Puerto Rico and Florida. He was an Army and Navy veteran of World War II and served in Okinawa. He attended Oakhurst United Methodist Church of Seminole and was a member of the Elks, American Legion and Masonic Lodge. - RUBLE, EVERETT "EARL," 76, of Tarpon Springs, died Sunday (July 23, 2000) at Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital, Tarpon Springs. He was born in Desoto, Ind., and came here in 1975 from Hickam Air Force Base, Honolulu, where he retired after 32 years in the Air Force. He was a lieutenant colonel, a pilot and veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was Methodist and a member of Elks Lodge 1719 and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1429, both of Tarpon Springs, Michael J. Cicero American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 10167, both of Holiday, the Air Force Association and The Retired Officers Association. - CHAPMAN, HENRY FORD, 84, of St. Petersburg, died Sunday (June 25, 2000) at Greenbrook Rehabilitation Center. He came here in 1951 from his native Bradford, Pa. He was a self-employed investor and avid golfer, a former member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, a member of the Selama Grotto, a life member of the Masonic Lodge and Consistory, Coudersport, Pa., and was a 32nd degree Mason. She was a member of the 20th Street Church of God in Christ and a 1977 graduate of Tampa Tech with a degree in electrical engineering. He retired from the Navy as a chief photographer, serving during World War II and Korea. He was a photographer for the Fort Lauderdale News and a division manager for the public works department of the city of St. Petersburg. He was a 1977 graduate of Tampa College with a bachelor of science and business management degree. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Margaret E. E.
