A bid for integrity
The embarrassment two lobbyists caused Gov. Jeb Bush could have been avoided had the governor followed through earlier on his rhetoric about restoring ethics in public life. Instead, the public is treated to the usual excuses and double talk about inappropriate contacts -- meals, social outings, a trip to Jamaica -- between state officials and lobbyists who worked to win millions of dollars worth of no-bid contracts.

For quality care
States and the federal government should require nursing homes to increase staffing and then help to cover the costs.

Undergrads take stab at tabs!
No matter what you may think of the content of their stories, tabloids such as the National Enquirer and the Weekly World News have their attributes, including great headlines, solid copy editing and eye-catching page designs. Anybody can write a story about the three-headed space alien who fathered Demi Moore's love child, but it takes a talented, experienced journalist to present that story in a way that will make readers pay attention.

For weeks Americans have been told that the outsourcing of high-tech jobs is good for our economy.
