SPJC to clear land for new building
SEMINOLE -- City and college officials are expected at 9 a.m. today as heavy equipment is hauled in to begin clearing land for a new building for the College University Center at the Seminole campus of St. Petersburg Junior College. Among those present will be Seminole SPJC Provost Jim Olliver, CUC Executive Director Lars Hafner, and Seminole City Manager Frank Edmunds, organizers said. The 87,000 square foot, three-story building is scheduled to be completed in a year. Hafner said the center has had an enrollment of 760 students since last August. That number is expected to swell to more than 1,000 when the new session begins Aug. 21. This year, the number of undergraduate, upper division and graduate course will nearly triple from 33 to 94 courses. For information on the ceremony, call Mike O'Keefe, 341-3352.
