Mariner Boulevard repairs continue
SPRING HILL -- Repairs to four sinkholes near Mariner Boulevard continued Friday, Department of Public Works operations coordinator Ralph Wirsching said. Mariner, which was closed from Marysville to Madeira streets most of Thursday, was opened partially about 8:30 p.m. Thursday to allow for one northbound lane and one southbound lane, he said. County crews still were drilling into the roadbed and filling cavities under the road and in the nearby retention area. Mariner will probably remain partially closed until this afternoon, Wirsching said, depending on the size of the cavities under the road. Crews also filled in the 20-foot-wide, 30-foot-deep sinkhole that formed next to the deck and pool of the home at Captain Drive and Abbeville Street. Building inspectors allowed the homeowners, Albert and Beverly Larsen, to return home Friday evening. They had been staying with a neighbor.
