  • McCALL, LOUIS MITCHELL, 67, of Brooksville, died Wednesday (Aug. 9, 2000) at home. He was a lifelong resident of Brooksville and was a heavy equipment operator for Brooksville Rock Industries and a cattle rancher. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Hebron Baptist Church, Brooksville, the Cattleman's Association,and the Gulf Hammock Hunting Club. Survivors include his wife, Loretta; a son, Edwin, Brooksville; two daughters, Sheila Basile and Kathy Rodgers, both of Brooksville; his mother, Anna Gertrude McCall, Brooksville; two brothers, Lawrence, Brooksville, and Gene, Floral City; three sisters, Naomi Daniels, Jacksonville, Lois Booth, Brooksville, and Diane Douglas, Zephyrhills; and three grandchildren.   • SCHWARTZ, SIDNEY D., 90, of Lecanto, died Wednesday (Aug. 9, 2000). He came here two years ago from his native New York City and was a former postal clerk.   • CARON, LOUIS J., 76, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday (Aug. 9, 2000) at home. Born in Manchester, N.H., he came here 21 years ago from Chicago. He was retired from railroad communications and a member of the First Baptist Church, Sanford, Maine. He was a Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife, Mary; and a sister, Doris Remick, Sanford.   • HINZE, LOUISE, 84, of Brooksville, died Tuesday (Aug. 8, 2000). She was born in Long Island, N.Y., and came here 26 years ago. She was a retired owner/operator of a hotel in Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y., and a real estate saleswoman. Survivors include a son, Frederick, Long Island; two daughters, Marilou Taylor and Barbara Galbraith, both of Brooksville; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He graduated from the University of Maine and was retired from the Illinois Bell Telephone Co. He was a Navy and Army veteran of World War II and retired from the Air Force OSI. He was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church, Spring Hill, the American Society of Military Engineers, the Western Society of Engineers, the American Legion Retired Officers Association and the Air Force Association.   • VEGA, WILBUR "BILL," 83, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday (Aug. 8, 2000) at Oak Hill Hospital, Spring Hill. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he came here 13 years ago from New York and was the owner/operator of Esco Packaging Co. He was Episcopalian and served as warden and coordinator in the construction of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Haworth, N.J. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a reporter for the Army newspaper Stars and Stripes, covering the events of the Nuremberg trials in Germany. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Hernando Beach.   • ADORNO, MARIA, 76, of Dade City, formerly of Tampa, died Tuesday (Aug. 8, 2000) at Heritage Park Specialty Care Center, Dade City. Born in San Tuce, Puerto Rico, she moved to Dade City two years ago from Tampa. She was a homemaker and member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Kingston, N.Y. Survivors include a son, Raymon, Dade City; three daughters, Elizabeth Adorno, Dade City, Margaret Garcia, Tampa, and Carmen Adorno, Kingston; a sister, Olga Miranda, Tampa; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.   • APLIN, HENRY R., 88, of Lutz, died Tuesday (Aug. 8, 2000) at University Community Hospital. Born in De Funiak Springs, he came here in 1931. He was a trim carpenter and was a member of Carpenter's Hall Local No. 696. He was Baptist. He was the owner of a security guard company and attended Faith Baptist Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and very active in the Boy Scouts. Born in Wickhaven, Pa., she came to Florida 20 years ago from Cleveland and lived in the Clearwater area prior to moving to New Port Richey. She was retired from the medical equipment manufacturing industry and was Presbyterian. Born in Four Falls, New Brunswick, Canada, he came here 44 years ago from Orange, Mass. He was a retired general mechanic for Innisbrook Resort, Palm Harbor, and previously was owner of Bud's Garage, Orange. He was Methodist and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, Tampa, the York Rite Bodies, the Masonic Lodge 112 F&AM, Tarpon Springs, member and assistant chief photographer for press corps of the Egypt Temple Shrine, Tampa, life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10167 and the Military Order of Cooties, both of Holiday, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars National Home. She was born in Detroit, moved to St. Petersburg in 1950 from El Paso, Texas, and moved to Belleair this year. She worked for several years at Maas Brothers department store, serving in the gifts, fruit shipping, cosmetics, photo and stationery departments. She was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist, St. Petersburg, where she was a Sunday school teacher, organist and leader, and the Mother Church of Christ Scientist, Boston. She was past president of the Disston Junior High PTA, a troop leader for Girl Scouts of America, served on local and regional boards for GSA, was a trainer, program chairman and delegate to Girl Scouts national conventions in Philadelphia and St. Louis. She was a member of the Women's Service League in St. Petersburg and was social activities director for Bay Island Yacht Club. She was a member and officer of the St. Petersburg Opti-Mrs Club and was elected to the club's Hall of Fame in 1983. She worked for several years at Maas Brothers department store, serving in the gifts, fruit shipping, cosmetics, photo and stationery departments. She was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, St. Petersburg, where she was a Sunday school teacher, organist and leader, and First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston. She was past president of the Disston Junior High PTA, a Girl Scouts of America troop leader, serving on local and regional boards as a trainer and program chairman and was a delegate to Girl Scout national conventions in Philadelphia and St. Louis. She was a member of the Women's Service League in St. Petersburg and was social activities director for Bay Island Yacht Club. She was a member and officer of the St. Petersburg Opti-Mrs Club and was elected to the club's hall of fame in 1983. He was chairman of the fine arts department at Arkansas State College, dean of the evening division at St. Petersburg Junior College and was president of Palm Beach Community College from 1957 to 1978. He was a member of Lake Worth Rotary, the Fraternal Order of Police Associates and the Gulf Stream Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He received the Eagle Scout Award in 1985.
