LUTZ -- The early arrivals tentatively peeked into the unfamiliar interior of the new McKitrick Elementary School. Many had never set foot in the four-building complex just north of Cheval. They had no idea where their classrooms were.

The new school has a sidewalk to nowhere. The county plans to put sidewalks along Lutz-Lake Fern Road, but not soon.

1. INTERSTATE 275, from Busch Boulevard to U.S. 41, will have periodic nighttime lane closures. Also watch for construction at Busch Boulevard and Fowler Avenue near the interstate. Work will continue until two new lanes are complete in fall 2002.

Accident report
1. FLETCHER AVENUE AT 22ND STREET, JULY 27, 1:14 A.M.: A truck rear-ended an eastbound Honda. The truck fled the scene but a witness got the tag number. The tag was registered to a 1998 tan Chevrolet pickup. The police went to the owner's address but were told by the current resident that he moved a month ago.
