Fire damages Spring Hill house

Firefighter Tom White of Spring Hill Fire Rescue takes a minute to recover after helping extinguish a fire that killed a family cat at 10296 Heathcliffe St. in Spring Hill on Tuesday. Another firefighter, Steve Mezzapele, was taken to Spring Hill Regional Hospital, where he was treated for smoke inhalation and released. The fire started in a back room of the house, authorities said.

PINEGROVE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: The Hernando County Sheriff's Office will present the canine unit to students from 9:10 to 11:55 a.m. Wednesday in the multipurpose room. The presentation will show how dogs are used in drug detection. Also, this is an early dismissal day, and school will be over at 1:10 p.m.
