  • BARTEL, CHARLES A., 84, of Inverness, died Friday (Sept. 1, 2000). Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he came here nine years ago from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He was a retired hearing aid salesman and a member of the First Church of Christian Science. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II and a member of Masonic Lodge 118 AF&M, Inverness. Survivors include his wife, Muriel Allen Bartel; a son, Robert A., Portsmouth, R.I.; two daughters, Carol A. Bales, Columbus, Ohio, and Dorothy Orr, Cuyahoga Falls; and five grandchildren.   • KRAIKER, JAMES R. "JIM," 65, of Dunnellon, formerly of St. Petersburg, died Friday (Sept. 1, 2000) at Seven Rivers Community Hospital, Crystal River. He was a retired nuclear engineer for Florida Power Corp. in St. Petersburg and Crystal River, an Army veteran, and a member and deacon of the Lighthouse Word Church. He retired from Lucent Technology, where he was an accounting administrator. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict and a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Largo. He was a member of the American Legion, Madeira Beach, and Elks, Madeira Beach. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She worked at the Kingfisher Restaurant, Madeira Beach, for many years and was Methodist. He was a pipe fitter and welder. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Pinellas Park, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was a Navy Seabee who served in World War II. She was a member of Faith Interdenominational Church, where she served on the Mothers' Board. She was a 1964 graduate of Gibbs Junior College. She was employed for 23 years at Martin Marietta, Largo, formerly General Electric Co. She was a member of Gracious Lady Social Club, OES, and the Blue Knight Van Club. She attended New Free Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and was president of the banquet committee. Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Neal, Miami, and Valerie Neal, St. Petersburg; three sisters, Willie Mae Archer, Geraldine Swanson and Millineze MacIntosh, all of St. Petersburg; and five grandchildren.     • RUCKER, FLORINE EVERSON, 65, of St. Petersburg, died Thursday (Aug. 31, 2000) at home. Born in Havana, Fla., she moved to St. Petersburg in 1952 and moved to Syracuse, N.Y., in 1968 and returned here in 1994. She was a former employee of Stetson University and was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member of the No. 1 choir, and the Intermediate Women's Auxiliary. Survivors include two sons, Eddie Willie Rucker Jr., and Larry Dupont Rucker, both of Syracuse; five daughters, Cassandra Dupont Tyson, Marvell Dupont Gipson and Tina Rucker Ford, all of St. Petersburg, and Latheria Rucker Fillyau and Rosalyn Rucker, both of Syracuse; her mother, Elizabeth Brown, Qunicy; five brothers, Kenneth Baker, Fort Myers, Sterling Baker, Miami, Edward Baker, Quincy, Clarence Nealy, Providence, R.I., Wallace Fennell, Chattahoochtee; three sisters, Carolyn Duncan, Lansing, Mich., Regina Diane Farlin, Pensacola, and Yvonne Murphy, Quincy; 30 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.     • SCHUH, DELLA KATHERINE, 84, of St. Petersburg, died Friday (Sept. 1, 2000) at St. Anthony's Hospital. She came here in 1935 from Monongahela, Pa. She was a homemaker and attended Christ United Methodist Church, where she was active in United Methodist Women and a member of the Mother's Christian Study Club. Survivors include a son, Richard H.     • SHACKELFORD, DAVID LEE, 56, of St. Petersburg, died Sunday (Aug. 27, 2000) at Northside Hospital and Heart Institute. He was born in Fairmont, W.Va. He retired as a chief in the Navy after 26 years of service. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 392, Virginia Beach, Va. Survivors include a son, Stephen, Brandon; a daughter, Julie Shackelford, West Palm Beach; two brothers, Ronnie and Greg, both of Barrackville, W.Va.; and a companion, Coleen Catulin, St. Petersburg.     • VICKSTROM, ROBERTA E., 76, St. Petersburg, died Thursday (Aug. 31, 2000) at home. Born in Point Marion, Pa., she came here in 1955 from Northfield, N.J. She was a secretary for 25 years for ECI-Raytheon, St. Petersburg. Survivors include her husband, John A. Jr.; a son, John A. III, St. Pete Beach; a daughter, Roberta A.     • CROSBY, CHERI DENISE, 41, formerly of Madeira Beach, died Sunday (Aug. 20, 2000) in North Miami Beach. Born in Alameda, Calif., she came here in 1963 from Kodiak, Alaska. She worked at the Kingfisher Restaurant, Madeira Beach, for many years and was Methodist. Survivors include two sons, Wayne Crosby and Bo Crosby, both of St. Petersburg; two sisters, Ginger Campbell, St. Petersburg, and Mickey Fiorillo, Gulfport; and a brother, Ned Farber, Boise, Idaho.     • KUBINSKI, THADEUS, 69, of St. Pete Beach, died Wednesday (Aug. 30, 2000) from a shark attack in waters behind his home. Born in Poland, he came here in 1978 from Glastonbury, Conn. He was an entrepreneur and a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, St. Petersburg, where he was a member of the choir. He also was a member of the St. John Paul Polish Center, Clearwater. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Anna; five sons, Joseph A., George and Adam, all of Enfield, Conn., Richard, St. Pete Beach, and Edward, Clearwater; a sister, Stephanie Kubinski, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and five grandchildren.
