PBS series explains how bridges bridge
A five-part series that starts at 8 p.m. Tuesday on WEDU-Ch. 3 will explain how some of the world's major engineering accomplishments were created: bridges, domes, skyscrapers, dams and tunnels.

Netherlands issues three new ducats
The Dutch Mint has issued three new ducats, which next year will be the first coin to be issued in seven consecutive centuries. Although the Dutch guilder will be phased out in favor of the euro in 2002, the ducat will remain in use.
