BRANCONNIER, DOROTHY CLAIR, 72, of Hernando, died Sunday (Oct. 14, 2001) in Inverness. She came here in 1987 from her native Marlboro, Mass. She was an antique store owner, member of the Citrus Hills Golf Association, Citrus County Art League, Divine Nine Ladies Golf League of Citrus Hills and member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, John J.; a son, Robert J., Boiling Springs, S.C.; a daughter, Margaret M., Grafton, Mass.; three sisters, Barbara MacConnell, Ocala, Joan Balkas, Johnson City, N.Y., and Phylis Yanchewsky, Marlboro; and three grandchildren. HUNSINGER, DOROTHY A., 80, of Homosassa, formerly of St. Petersburg, died Saturday (Oct. 13, 2001) at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness. Born in Clementon, N.J., she came to Homosassa in 1995 from St. Petersburg. She retired as a secretary in the Pinellas County school system and was active in the USO during World War II in Camden, N.J., and Philadelphia. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Pasadena Community Church, St. Petersburg. Survivors include three sons, Leonard C., Lecanto, Gregory C., Largo, and Mark Anthony, Seminole; a brother, Joseph Anthony, Treasure Island; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. E. PALLADINO, JEAN (CASSENTINO), 89, of Crystal River, died Sunday (Oct. 14, 2001) at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she came here in 1969 from Staten Island, N.Y. She worked as a seamstress and sales person for Kurtz Brothers for 10 years. She was a homemaker and member of the Crystal River Womens Drama Group, appearing in several plays. She was founder and president of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church, past president and member of its Altar Rosary Society, and past president and member of the Catholic Womens Club. Survivors include two daughters, Florence Cleary, Lecanto, and Valerie Farinelli, Staten Island; a sister, Ann Bohn, Crystal River; three grandsons; and four great-grandchildren. PETERS, CHARLES ADAIR, 63, of Hernando, died Sunday (Oct. 14, 2001) at Shands Hospital in Gainesville. Born in Port Allegany, Pa., he came here in 1983 from Germany. He retired from the Air Force as a tech sergeant with 20 years of service. He also retired from the Citrus County Fleet Management Division as a mechanic with 15 years of service and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4252 of Hernando. He was Protestant. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Rosemarie (Graf); two sons, Donald A., Marrietta, Ohio, and Gerald R. "Jerry," Inverness; two daughters, Joan E. Farrar, Maine, and Rosemarie E. ROOKS, RAYMOND B., 90, of Inverness, died Wednesday (Oct. 10, 2001) in Inverness. He was a lifetime resident of his native Inverness and was a custodian at the Citrus County Courthouse. He was Baptist. Survivors include two sons, Dick and John DeBusk, a daughter, Annie Bell Wiley, all of Inverness; a granddaughter; a grandson; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. SHARLOW, EVA PEARL, 93, of Crystal River, died Sunday (Oct. 14, 2001) in Crystal River. Born in Saluda, S.C., she came here 16 years ago from Greenville, Mich. She was a retired press operator for Federal Mogul Corp. in Greenville and member of First Pentecostal Church of Inglis. Survivors include a son, Bossell Gillian, Columbia, S.C.; an adopted daughter, Janice S. Diehl, Homosassa; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Bauman, Greenville, Mich.; two stepsons, James and Gordon, both of Crystal River; two sisters, Florea Willis, Batesburg, S.C., and Naphlee Leaphart, Columbia, S.C.; a granddaughter. STARR, SID, 64, of Beverly Hills, died Sunday (Oct. 14, 2001) at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness. Born in Middletown, Conn., he came here in 1988 from Bryan, Texas. He was a truck driver for the Ande Ranch in Texas and a Navy veteran. He was Protestant. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; a stepson, Craig Claus, College Station, Texas; a stepdaughter, Robin Farign, Abernathy, Texas; a brother, Robert Rasmussen, Lecanto; a sister, Ann Marie Dean, Seatack, Wash.; and a grandson. BAKER, CATHERINE JAY, 79, of Brooksville, died Monday (Oct. 15, 2001) at Brooksville Health Care. She came here in 1977 from her native Milwaukee and was a homemaker. Her memberships included Sweet Adelines in Milwaukee, Green Thumb Garden Club Cloverleaf, Brooksville, Kitchen Band and CnG Smoothies Singing Group. She was a member and choir member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, James J. Bruckbouer Jr., Madison, Wis., and Michael J. Bruckbouer, Brooksville; three daughters, Sharon L. Storlie, Augusta, Wis., Maureen Bartel, Oostburg, Wis., and Suzanne Wood, Las Vegas; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. HATCHER, ALBERT J., 91, of Spring Hill, died Sunday (Oct. 14, 2001) at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center in Brooksville. Born in Cedar Key, he came here in 1999 from Chiefland. He was the retired owner of a general store in Hudson for 20 years. Survivors include a daughter, Gerry Dougherty, Spring Hill; two brothers, Zeno and Lonzie, both of Chiefland; a sister, Eucine Christy, Bayonet Point; two grandsons; and two great-grandchildren. VALERIO, LILLIAN M., 78, of Spring Hill, died Monday (Oct. 15, 2001) at Spring Hill Regional Hospital. Born in Yatesville, Pa., she came here two years ago from Ambler, Pa. She was a secretary for the Plastica Co., member of the New Jersey Club of Spring Hill and member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a retired automotive process engineer, an Army veteran of World War II and member of the Michigan Club of Spring Hill. He was a Lutheran. CAFFREY, ANNA, 78, of Zephyrhills, formerly of Tampa, died Sunday (Oct. 14, 2001) at Zephyr Haven Nursing Home in Zephyrhills. Born in Newark, N.J., she moved to Zephyrhills five years ago from Tampa. She was a homemaker and attended Victorious Life Church in Wesley Chapel. CARTY, ROBERT WILLIAM, 72, of Valrico, died Sunday (Oct. 14, 2001) at Brandon Regional Hospital. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he came to the Tampa area in 1962 from Cincinnati. He was a supervisor with GTE for 25 years. He served with the Marine Corps during World War II and with the Army during the Korean War. He attended Crosstown Community Church. Survivors include his wife, Noma F. Carty; a son, Greg, Locust Grove, Ga.; three daughters, Karen Welchons and Kathy Welchons, both of Valrico, and Kim Gore, Riverview; a sister, Juanita Rogne, Kentucky; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. COLEMAN, DONALD P., 67, of Seffner, died Sunday (Oct. 14, 2001) at Hawthorne Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Okeechobee, he moved to Seffner in 1970 from Tampa. COLLIER, JOHN BAIDEN, 88, of Plant City, died Tuesday (Oct. 16, 2001) in Plant City. Born in Weakley County, Tenn., he came to the Tampa area in 1954 from Dresden, Tenn. He was a welder and an Army veteran of World War II who served in four battles, earning a Purple Heart. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Dover. AKUCEWICZ, JOSEPH J., 69, of Port Richey, died Sunday (Oct. 14, 2001) at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point. He came here nine years ago from his native Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a retired teacher employed by the Brooklyn Board of Education and a Navy veteran of the Korean War. His memberships included the Timber Oaks Civic Association, the Italian-American Club, and St. James the Apostle Catholic Church. ARNOLD, EARL L., 82, of New Port Richey, died Friday (Oct. 12, 2001) at Community Hospital of New Port Richey. Born in Chicago, he came here 34 years ago from New Troy, Mich. He was a retired accountant having worked for Firmenich in Safety Harbor, was an Army veteran of World War II and attended Seven Springs Presbyterian Church, New Port Richey. BOWE, CHARLES A., 76, of New Port Richey, died Saturday (Oct. 13, 2001) at home. Born in Ward, W.Va., he came here in 1990 from Youngstown, N.Y. He was a retired inspector for Great Lakes Carbon Co., Niagara Falls, N.Y., with 39 years of service. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, a life member of the Marine Corps League Detachment 567 of Holiday, life member of American Legion Post 335 of Hudson, and member of VFW Post 313, Youngstown, N.Y. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie 4208 of Spring Hill. He was Protestant. CARR, MARY JANE, 81, of Pennington, N.J., formerly of Bayonet Point, died Monday (Oct. 15, 2001) at the Medical Center at Princeton, N.J. Born in Morrall, Ohio, she resided 23 years in Bayonet Point, moving recently to be with her daughter in Pennington. She was former director of Christian Education at First United Methodist Church of New Port Richey and founder of the Wee Wisdom Pre-School Program of the church. She was a graduate of Kent State University, graduating cum laude, and she attended Ohio Wesleyan University. She had bachelor's and master's degrees in education. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Kappa Delta sororities. - BRADFIELD, CATHERINE Y. "KATE," 81, of Clearwater, died Sunday (Oct. 14, 2001) at home after a monthlong illness. She was born in Lexington, Ky., and came here in 1957. She retired after 20 years as secretary/bookkeeper for Clearwater Junior High School, now Kennedy Middle School. She liked to sculpt with clay. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Clearwater, where she was active in the Covenant Class, the Thursday Prayer Group and the AIDS Ministries. She was involved in several local support programs, including AIDS groups, the Angel Tree and SHARE. Survivors include a son, Stephen, West Hollywood, Calif.; two daughters, Susan Garnett, Clearwater, and Cindy Hortin, Tallahassee; and three nieces, Stephania Hardin-Martin and Mary Remington, both of Pittsburgh. She was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Clearwater, a volunteer for Hospice of the Florida Suncoast and a member of the Alzheimers caregiver support group through Neighborly Senior Services. He came here in 1981 from his native Burgettstown, Pa., where he retired after 26 years with Weirton Steel Co. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Largo. She came here in 1962 from her native Schenectady, N.Y., where she retired after many years as a physical education teacher. She graduated from Syracuse (N.Y.) University. - MILLER, MYRON C. "KARL," 88, of Clearwater, formerly of St. Petersburg, died Friday (Oct.12, 2001) at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater. He was born in Milwaukee, came to St. Petersburg in 1958 from San Jose, Calif., and moved in 1967 to Clearwater. He graduated from University of Wisconsin and received a master's degree in education from San Jose State College. In 1962 he received a Fulbright Scholarship to study at Goethe Institute in Germany. He taught at St. Petersburg High School, Northeast High School and Chamberlain High School. For 12 years he was professor of German and technical writing at Polk Community College, Winter Haven. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was president of the Pinellas County Foreign Language Teachers Association and a member of Phi Delta Kappa. Survivors include his wife, Mary; two sons, Frederick E., St. Petersburg, and Thomas C., Warner Robins, Ga.; and a sister, Bette Schapekahm, Milwaukee. She was born in Woodridge, N.Y., and lived here many years before moving last year to Middletown. She was a retired registered nurse and an Army nurse in World War II. She was a member of the American Legion in Clearwater. She was a member of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Middletown. Survivors include a son, Lawrence G. - CARTER, MAY J., 96, of Dunedin, died Tuesday (Oct. 16, 2001) at Mease Continuing Care, Dunedin. She was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and came here in 1976 from Queens, N.Y. She worked as a clerk for Macy's Department Store in New York City. She attended St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church of Dunedin and was active in the Daughters of Scotia and the Scottish-American Society, Dunedin. - WILLEY, RALPH M., 83, of Palm Harbor, died Tuesday (Oct. 16, 2001) at Regency Oaks Nursing Center, Clearwater. He was born in Cherryfield, Maine, and came here in 1995 from Scarborough, Maine. He retired as vice president after 40 years with Fox & Ginn, Bangor, Maine. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He served from 1982 to 1989 in the Maine House of Representatives and was appointed in 1989 by the governor of Maine to the Unemployment Insurance Commission, on which he served until 1995. He was a past safety director of the Maine Truck Owners Association, a past chairman of the American Trucking Association Maintenance Council and a 25-year member of the Society of Automotive Engineers. He was instrumental in setting up the Maine Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training for Truck Mechanics. He was a 10-year member of the Hampden (Maine) Town Council and a member of the Hampden Planning Board. He was a past president of Kiwanis and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Maine. He was president of the Courtyards II Association, Glen Eagles, Palm Harbor. He was a certified public accountant for B/W Tobacco and was vice president, treasurer and director of Vita Foods in New York City. He earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Bowling Green College of Commerce and Business. He was a member of Beta Pi, an honorary accounting fraternity, and was president of Pi Tau Nu, a social fraternity. He was a Navy lieutenant who served in World War II as commander of a landing ship. He served in the European and Pacific theaters and participated in the invasion of Normandy. He was a professor at the University of Kentucky. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Seminole, served as an usher for its 8:30 mass and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Lost Chords of Sea Towers condominium and was commodore of Sea Towers Yacht Club. He also was a member of American Legion Post 273 in Madeira Beach. He was a past president of the Lincoln Trail Council and the Louisville Chapter of the National Association of Accountants. he was a past president of the Stuart McCleod Society and a 40-year honorary member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accounting.
