Board okays school choice plan
The School Board decides it is time to put the plan to the test in court, await the results and alter the plan later, if necessary.

Plan envisions school integration
Under the plan adopted Tuesday, the county's 160 public schools would be divided into seven regions and seven zones. Regions would be largely suburban, predominantly white areas; zones would be urban areas with large black populations.

Commissioner loses perk for Super Bowl
Jim Norman, who reminded colleagues of his work to bring the big game to Tampa, will be replaced on the Tampa Sports Authority.

Business briefs
Scott Shimberg, executive vice president of Hyde Park Builders Inc., was named Builder Member of the Year for 2001 by the Builders Association of Greater Tampa. The Association is an organization serving Hillsborough County construction-related businesses, including builders, developers, suppliers, subcontractors, lending institutions, architectural and engineering firms, as well as insurance companies. Shimberg is a home builder and a licensed real estate broker. He earned his bachelor's degree in finance from Indiana University and his master's degree in business administration from USF.
