CHASSAHOWITZKA -- Facing some of the worst flying conditions in their protracted journey, the ultralight pilots leading a flock of whooping cranes to Citrus County decided to stay on the ground Saturday.

LIFE SENTENCE: A judge sentenced James Lee Earley to life in prison for sexually abusing a girl from the time she was 7 until she turned 14 and became pregnant with his baby. Earley, 46, of Beverly Hills was convicted in October on a count of sexual battery on a child younger than 12, a capital sex crime that carries an automatic penalty of life in prison.
