BRAISTED, WESLEY W., 85, of Lecanto, died Tuesday (Dec. 5, 2000). Born in Staten Island, N.Y., he came here two years ago from Chapel Hill, N.C. He was a retired attorney with Braisted & Braisted Law Firm, Staten Island, and was a member of the University United Methodist Church, Chapel Hill. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Roberta Elizabeth Townsend Braisted, Lecanto; a son, Lawrence E., Inverness; a daughter, Lynn Pedersen, Concord, Mass.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. EDWARDS, BILL EARLY, 84, of Inglis, died Monday (Dec. 4, 2000) at Seven Springs Community Hospital, Crystal River. Born in Pomeroy, Wash., he came here six years ago from Quitman, Ga. He was a retired civil engineer for the federal government and Smalley-Welford & Nevin Engineering, Dade County. He was instrumental in starting the Withlacoochee Area Residents, Inglis, and was an avid sailor and model boat builder. He was Methodist, a Navy veteran of World War II, and past member of the American Legion, Marathon. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Jane; two sons, Michael David, Raleigh, N.C., and Jesse, Inglis; a daughter, Bertha E. Cassidy, Inglis; two sisters, Nellie McQuire, Seattle, and Sobina Lynthcom, Richmond, Va.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. FUTCH, HARRY LEE, 67, of Brooksville, died Tuesday (Dec. 5, 2000) at Spring Hill Regional Hospital. Born in Ellabell, Ga., he came here 40 years ago from Bushnell and was a retired heavy equipment operator for Overstreet Paving Co. He was Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Norma; four sons, Harry Jr., Larry L., Jerry and Garry, all of Coleman; two daughters, Shirley Mashburn and Bonnie Strickland, both of Crystal River; a stepdaughter, Kay Davis, Minlothian,Texas; four brothers, James, Orlando, Daniel, Tampa, Junior, Umatilla, and Bobby Joe, Ohio; three sisters, Brenda Andrews, Betty and Elizabeth, all of Orlando; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. HALL, ROBERT E., 78, of Homosassa, died Saturday (Dec. 2, 2000) at Seven Springs Community Hospital, Crystal River. Born in Tennessee, he came here 10 years ago from Pontiac, Mich., and was a heavy equipment operator. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Masonic Lodge 112, Wayne, Mich. KANTER, RICHARD STEPHEN, 58, of Inverness, died Tuesday (Dec. 5, 2000). Born in Cleveland, he came here 28 years ago from Parma, Ohio, and was a pipe fitter. He was a member of the Inverness Church of God and the Pipe Fitters Local 120, Cleveland. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Joy Acker Kanter; two sons, Richard S. PRICE, HOLLAND McKEE "MAC," 83, of Homosassa, died Sunday (Dec. 3, 2000). Born in Shepherdstown, W.Va., he came here four years ago from Frederick, Md., and retired as director of finance from the Allegany County Board of Education. He was Presbyterian. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Hutzelle Price "Betty"; a daughter, Frances Price Doherty, Frederick; two brothers, Kirkland S., Charles Town, W.Va., and Dr. James C. SACKLER, ANGELA, 87, of Inverness, died Tuesday (Dec. 5, 2000) at the Surrey Place Convalescent Center, Lecanto. Born in New York City, she came here more than 25 years ago from Miami and was a retired hotel physical therapist. She was Catholic. SMITH, MICHAEL A., 55, of Homosassa, died Monday (Dec. 4, 2000) at home. Born in Lima, Ohio, he came here 10 years ago from Ohio, and was a salesman for AT&T. He was Baptist. Survivors include two stepsons, Ken Creech, Beverly Hills, and Jimmy Creech, Beattyville, Ky.; two stepdaughters, Trena Tschuschke and Rena Mason, both of Crystal River; and a brother, Dr. David Smith, Lima. STEINER, DEA SCIACERO, 56, of Sugarmill Woods, Homosassa, died Tuesday (Dec. 5, 2000) at home. Born in Italy, she came here two years ago from Jefferson Township, N.J. She was a real estate sales agent and member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Homosassa. Survivors include her husband, William J.; three sons, Gregory, Fort Lauderdale, Jeffrey, New Brunswick, N.J., and Bradley, Mechanicsburg, Pa.; and her parents, Alessandro and Maria Sciacero, Sugarmill Woods. SUTTON, IRENE CRYSTAL, 66, of Crystal River, died Monday (Dec. 4, 2000) at Hospice House of Gainesville. Born in Crystal River, she was a lifelong resident and part of the original Carnival Company that wintered on what is now known as "Bunt's Point." She was a mate on the Sunny Skies party boat, owned a chicken farm and gas station in Crystal River, and was also a commercial fishing guide. CARVER, EARL E. JR., 62, of Brooksville, died Tuesday (Nov. 21, 2000) at home. Born in Bluefield, W.Va., he came here six years ago from Pompano Beach and retired as foreman of the Public Works Department, Boynton Beach. He was Baptist, a member of the American Legion Post 99, Brooksville, the International Brotherhood of Fireman & Oilers Local 1227, Boynton Beach, and an Army veteran of the Korean War. She was a retired telephone operator and member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church, Spring Hill, and the Telephone Pioneers. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she came here 14 years ago from Long Island, N.Y., and was a homemaker. She was Catholic. SATTERTHWAITE, MARGARET, 82, of Wesleyan Village, Brooksville, died Tuesday (Dec. 5, 2000) at Brooksville Regional Hospital. Born in Grant County, Ind., she came here 18 years ago from Fairmount, Ind., and was a retired secretary for the Veterans Administration, Marion, Ind. She was a member of the Fairmount Wesleyan Church and attended the Brooksville Wesleyan Church. He was a retired truck driver for Gulf Central Co., an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, he served as chairman of the trustee board and was a member of Choir Number One and St. James A.M.E. YOUMANS, DR. BEN, 83, of Sun City Center, died Monday (Dec. 4, 2000) at home. Born in Americus, Ga., he moved to St. Petersburg in 1983 before moving to Calhoun, Ga. He was an optometrist in Calhoun for 40 years, he was a Navy veteran of World War II, where he participated in the Battle of Okinawa in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club and First Presbyterian Church in St. Petersburg. ALLGOOD, SAMUEL Y. JR., 83, of New Port Richey, died Monday (Dec. 4, 2000) at Community Hospital of New Port Richey. Born in Hooker, Okla., he came here 51 years ago from Gainesville. He was a retired attorney for Allgood and Misemer and an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. He was Methodist and a member of the Pearl of the West Lodge 146 and the Egypt Temple Shrine, and he was the first president of the West Pasco Bar Association. Survivors include four daughters, Abigail Misemer, Cynthia Allgood, Melissa Nurrenbrock and Deborah Allgood, all of New Port Richey; two sisters, Mary Metzel, Winnsboro, Texas, and Nona Gardner, Tulsa, Okla.; and five grandchildren. EHRENBERG, EDWARD FRANK, 72, of Hudson, died Wednesday (Dec. 6, 2000) at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he came here 16 years ago from Commack, N.Y., and retired as a sergeant for the New York City Police Department after 23 years of service. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the International Police Association, New Port Richey, the Retired Sergeants Benevolent Association and the Superior Officers Association Retired, both in New York City, and the Beacon Woods East Civic Association, Hudson. HOFFMAN, W. ALVIN, 93, of New Port Richey, died Wednesday (Dec. 6, 2000) at Community Hospital of New Port Richey. Born in Eddyville, Pa., he came here 30 years ago from Scotia, N.Y., and was a construction superintendent for Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. He was Methodist and a former member of the Seven Springs Golf & Country Club and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 137. He was a member of the Eagles 1575 and a life member of the Elks Club 2284, both in New Port Richey. Survivors include his wife, Peggy; and a son, Richard, Del Mar, Calif. KIER, CLARENCE W., 102, of Hudson, died Sunday (Dec. 3, 2000) at Bear Creek Nursing Center, Hudson. He moved to Zephyrhills 12 years ago from his native Ortonville, Mich., and moved to Hudson in 1996. He retired from Pontiac Motor Division as a machine operator in 1962. He was a member of the Ortonville Methodist Church since 1919 and attended First United Methodist Church, Zephyrhills. He was a 32 Degree Mason and past master of Chapter 339 F&AM, a member of the Ortonville Scottish Rite, a noble of Elf Khurafeh Temple, a past worthy matron of Chapter 286 OES, and a member of Bay City Consistory, Saginaw Shrine, the Scottish Rite of Florida and the Zephyrhills Shrine Club. He was Protestant, a Marine Corps veteran and a member of the Police Benevolent Association, Wyckoff. BRADY, RICHARD, 68, of Live Oak, formerly of Clearwater and Largo, died Sunday (Dec. 3, 2000) at home. He was born in Clearwater and moved in 1991 to Live Oak from Largo. He retired after 33 years as a special service manager for GTE in Tampa. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Jean; a sister, Mary Jo Tober, Eatonton, Ga.; a brother, Fred, North Carolina; and four aunts, Mary and Edna Ledbetter, Jane Whitbeck and Juanita Blanton. CONTI, ANNETTE R., 98, of Clearwater, died Wednesday (Dec. 6, 2000) at Sabal Palms Health Care Center, Largo. She came here in 1985 from her native Rochester, N.Y., where she worked as a key punch operator seven years for Todd Co. and eight years for Bond's Clothing Co. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, Largo. Survivors include a son, Peter, Clearwater; five grandsons, Joseph Michael Conti and Peter Thomas Conti Jr., both of St. Petersburg, Curtis Brown and Gregory Brown, both of Tampa, and Todd Brown, Gainesville; and six great-grandchildren. EMMONS, KENNARD, 78, of Clearwater, formerly of St. Petersburg, died Monday (Dec. 4, 2000) at the VA Medical Center at Bay Pines. He was born in Salem, Mass., and came here in 1972 from New York. He was an electrical engineer and worked 10 years for the city of St. Petersburg. He was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II with the rank of gunner's mate. He was a past president of St. Petersburg Chapter Sons of the American Revolution and Holiday Isles VFW Post 4256 and Augustus Ruser Jr. American Legion Post 273, both of Madeira Beach. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and served in Northern France, Rhineland and Central European campaigns. - BAKER, CARRIE LYNN, 23, of Seminole, died Saturday (Nov. 11, 2000) in a cable car accident with other members of a military-affiliated ski club on a four-day Veterans Day holiday in Kaprun, Austria. She was a paratrooper and second lieutenant in the Army assigned to a three-year tour with the 30th Medical Brigade's 523rd Dental Services Company in Giebelstadt, near Wuerzburg, Germany. She was born in Lafayette, Ind., and came here in 1991 from Tallahassee. She was an ROTC graduate in 1996 from Seminole High School where she was drum major for her senior year. She earned full scholarships and attended the University of Central Florida for two years, and was a distinguished military graduate in 1999 at Auburn University in Alabama. She was a member of Azalea Baptist Church, St. Petersburg. He worked as an industrial and mechanical engineer for the Department of Defense and later worked for E-Systems and Martin Marietta before retiring to Mexico.
