VOTE DELAYED: The County Commission delayed by at least 30 days consideration of a $4.2-million deal to buy a new Motorola communications system for the county's law enforcement, fire and ambulance crews. Commissioners, led by chairman Jim Fowler, sought a monthlong delay because they wanted staff to make certain the county's new equipment would fit with any state or national plan for emergency preparedness.
