SECURITY STOCKS RISE: Shares of bomb-detector manufacturers, including InVision Technologies Inc. and OSI Systems Inc., surged after a passenger tried to ignite explosives hidden in his shoes on a trans-Atlantic flight Saturday. InVision of Newark, Calif., rose $4.20, or 15 percent, to $32.71. OSI Systems of Hawthorne, Calif., gained $1.70, or 12 percent, to $16.20. InVision rival L-3 Communications, which makes its bomb-detection devices in Clearwater, saw its shares rise 14 cents to $86.94. Separately, airline stocks dipped lower in the wake of Saturday's incident. Notably, American Airlines slid 70 cents to $21.19, while Continental lost 68 cents to $24.36.
