A jazzy New Year's Eve
Break out the champagne, turn on WUSF-FM 89.7 and listen as it broadcasts from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. a New Year's Eve special program called Toast of the Nation From NPR's JazzSet. It will feature live music from legendary jazz clubs, starting in New York at the new Smoke on upper Broadway with award-winning pianist Jacky Terrasson, drummer Leon Parker and sax player Steve Wilson. At 12:15 a.m., the show will broadcast live from Joe Segals Jazz Showcase in Chicago, where Etta Jones will sing and tenor sax player Houston Person will play. From there, the show will heads to Los Angeles to the Jazz Bakery, where Tolu will entertain with a west coast Latin sound at 2 a.m.
