New charms prove less captivating than the old
Out with the new, in with the old. On a scale of city life amenities -- places that make us feel like we live in a real city -- 2001 brought in not much. Centro Ybor, which just really got going this year, is not the draw anyone expected, and Channelside, which opened early this year, is nowhere near off the ground. International Plaza, of course, could not have chosen a worse time to open unless it was Sept. 11 rather than the 14th.
