TAMPA -- Authorities have issued a warrant for a 46-year-old Tampa man wanted in a home invasion and aggravated assault early Thursday.

Edward Markovitch of 10610 N 30th St., is also wanted for questioning in the killing of Joseph Daniels, 61, who was found shot to death late Thursday in his Drew Park home.

Tampa police believe Markovitch broke into the home of two acquaintances at 4812 N Manhattan Ave. just after 5 a.m. and robbed them of money, homicide Sgt. Dan Grossi said.

As he fled the scene, the two men chased him and Markovitch fired two shots at them. Markovitch was driving Daniels' 1983 blue Chrysler Concorde at the time, police said. A short time later, the car had a flat tire at 534 28th St. S in St. Petersburg.

When two men in a 1989 Cadillac stopped to help Markovitch, he stole their Cadillac and fired two shots at them, police said. Late Thursday, officers who went to Daniels' home to tell him they had found his car discovered he was dead. Markovitch and Daniels were also acquaintances, police said. Markovitch is wanted for two counts of armed robbery and two counts of aggravated assault stemming from the home invasion.
