Two St. Petersburg elementary students were selected as winners in the Arts Center's exhibition Celebrations: Word and Image.

Keziah Ramirez, a fifth-grader at Fairmount Park Elementary School, drew a self-portrait surrounded by rain forest animals from her native Colombia.

Alicia Holden, a fifth-grader at Lakewood Elementary School, created a mixed-media collage that included a poem describing "dreams coming true when jumping rope."

The exhibition, a venture between Pinellas County schools and the Arts Center, is an annual community outreach program made possible in part by a grant from the Pinellas County Arts Council. Twenty-two schools participated in the juried competition, in which 67 pieces were chosen.

The works are on display through Feb. 9 in the Risser Gallery of the Arts Center, 719 Central Ave.

For more information, call the Arts Center at 822-7872.
