Pedestrian struck by car is in critical condition

A pedestrian struck by a car Tuesday night at Myrtle Avenue and Seminole Street was listed in critical condition Thursday at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg.

Clyde Richardson, 51, of 1128 Carlton St., Clearwater, was crossing Myrtle Street when he was hit by a 1994 Mazda driven by Marion Neil, 76, of 1014 Beaver Drive, Tarpon Springs, according to Clearwater police.

Neil did not see Richardson crossing in front of her, though the pedestrian did not have the right of way. Neil was not injured. No charges will be filed, police said.

1 child released, 1 still in hospital after accidents

One child injured in a car accident Wednesday has been released from the hospital, while a second child injured in a crash about a half-hour later was listed in fair condition.

Eurich Edwards, 10, was hit by a Ford Explorer as he walked to Curtis Fundamental Elementary School about 7:50 a.m. Wednesday. The impact threw him about 20 feet. He was flown to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg. Eurich suffered only minor injuries and was discharged from the hospital Thursday, a spokeswoman said.

Seven-year-old Ceara Murray, who involved in a two-vehicle accident about a half-hour later at Myrtle and Marshall streets, also was flown to All Children's Hospital. Ceara, a passenger in a van involved in that crash, was listed in fair condition at the hospital Thursday, a hospital spokeswoman said.

    Two injured in three-vehicle crash

Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash at Hercules Avenue and Rainbow Drive on Thursday evening.

Two cars crashed at the intersection, then one of the cars hit a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office car driven by a child protective investigator, according to deputies. The Sheriff's Office took over the investigation from Clearwater police because it involved one of the agency's vehicles.

The child protective investigator was not injured.

The driver of one of the cars along with a teenage girl who was a passenger in the second vehicle were taken to a hospital. Deputies said they believed both people were taken by helicopter to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg.

Deputies said the air transport was precautionary. Names of the injured, condition updates and details of the crash were not available Thursday night. The driver of the car with the girl inside suffered minor injuries; a passenger in the other vehicle was uninjured, according to deputies.
