Oil painting workshops are offeredINVERNESS -- Several Bob Ross oil painting workshops will be offered by the Inverness Department of Parks and Recreation. George Loring is a certified Bob Ross instructor with seven years' experience teaching the "wet on wet" technique. Workshops will be on the following Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Jan. 13, Feb. 10, March 10 and April 7. Registration is $40 and students must be 12 or older to take the course. Best Florida song contest seeks entriesDADE CITY -- The Will McLean Foundation is seeking entries for the annual Best New Florida Song Contest. Each person can submit up to three songs about the people, heritage or natural beauty of Florida. Deadline is Feb. 1. Winning song writers are invited to perform at the annual Will McLean Music Festival March 10 and 11 at Sertoma Ranch near Dade City.
