Deputies: Gunshots killed manBy BRADY DENNIS © St. Petersburg Times, published January 9, 2001 DADE CITY -- Pasco County sheriff's deputies Monday said a Hispanic man found dead in a Dade City mobile home Saturday evening died of multiple gunshot wounds. Florentino Cano, 47, was found by his roommate just before 6 p.m. in the mobile home at 36911 Thomas Jefferson Road, a dirt road near Pasco High School. Sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll said deputies are trying to determine if Cano was a U.S. resident. Doll would not name the roommate or potential suspects, or say where Cano was shot. Pasco County property records turned up no owner of the mobile home or the owner of the land at that address. Doll asked that anyone with information about the homicide contact Detective Alan Proctor at (800) 854-2862, ext. 5115. The death is the second homicide investigation in Pasco County this year. The first began Thursday night when a man's body was found underneath a tarp in Land O'Lakes. That case has since been turned over to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • St. Petersburg Times
