Police reportsBy Times staff reports © St. Petersburg Times, published January 9, 2001 Man's Elvis memorabilia stolen during his moveZEPHYRHILLS -- As diehards celebrated Elvis Presley's 66th birthday Monday, J.C. Roberts was searching for his stolen pictures of The King. Sometime between Dec. 20 and Jan. 7, while Roberts was in the process of moving from his home at 3809 Lado Drive, a burglar made off with two original 5 by 7 pictures of the Graceland legend. "My mother had given them to me," Roberts said Tuesday, admitting he didn't realize it was Elvis' birthday. "It was from when he was doing a movie somewhere. She had saved them for years. What they're worth, who knows?" Okay, so The King's pictures weren't the first thing he noticed -- or the only thing stolen. "The first thing I noticed was my big screen TV missing," he said. "Then my 3 1/2-foot speakers, I noticed those right away, too." But the photos, not the electronics, turned out more valuable than a closet full of blue suede shoes. A 32-inch television and the stereo: $150 each. The two original photographs of The King: priceless. Deputies have no suspects so far in the case.
