When the celebrating stopped Sunday, the Giants were faced with a sobering thought: To earn (a Super Bowl trip) they've got to shut down the scariest offense in the NFL this side of the Rams.
The metaphor of choice is baseball, and that's Mark McGwire at the plate with the bases loaded.

The New York Giants are a team only their fans could love.
The Giants are not sexy. They are blue-collar.
They are not flashy. They are throwbacks. They are not entertaining. They are boring to the core.
They also are not done. They are one victory from Super Bowl XXXV.
If the Giants reach the Super Bowl, critics invariably will complain that the Giants exemplify all that is wrong with the NFL. They will point to the third-place schedule ... to an offense that weebles, wobbles and sometimes falls down. And they will be right ... to a point.

The Vikings view their next opponent as Giants-of-all-trades, capable of turning a fumble-causing sack into a field goal or a bobbled interception into a game-breaking touchdown. Some Vikings likened the Giants' attack to that of the Bucs: a conservative, run-oriented attack, albeit with a better quarterback in Kerry Collins to complement two versatile running backs.
