The X-Files

  • PlayStation
  • $39.99
  • Fox Interactive

For fans of the TV show, Myst or other static games, X-Files is a keeper. Four disks mean lots of movie clips featuring original footage and, of course, both of our favorite paranormal detectives. Believe! Grade: A-

Hybrid Heaven

  • Nintendo 64
  • $49.99
  • Konami
  • PlayStation

This very cool 3-D adventure game combines Duke Nukem with fighting, character building and a third-person perspective. It also is dark and very mature, as opposed to the more light-hearted fare we are used to seeing from our N64 games. Grade: A

Test Drive 6

  • PlayStation
  • $39.99
  • Infogrames

If Gran Turismo 2 didn't satisfy you (How is that possible?), then Test Drive 6 should fill 'er up. With 40 licensed cars, including a Plymouth Prowler, and tracks from Paris to Hong Kong, Test Drive is not quite Gran Turismo, but it is close. You also can try to outrun the cops in chase mode. Grade: B+

Final Fantasy Anthology

  • PlayStation
  • $39.99
  • Squaresoft

This anthology is two oldies for the Super Famicom (the Japanese equivalent of Super Nintendo) on two CDs with bonus movies. Final Fantasy VI was released as Final Fantasy III in the United States, but FFV never made it west. If you love the series and can stand the graphics, this is a must-have. Grade: B

Test Drive Off-Road 3

  • PlayStation
  • $39.99
  • Infogrames

Now this is how off-road should be done. Off-Road 3 has 27 real cars, including a Hummer, a Ram truck, a Jeep Cherokee and a Nissan Pathfinder. You'll need to buy different tires, engines and suspensions for the 11 incredible tracks, set to the sounds of Blink 182 and other rockers. Grade: B

Suikoden II

  • PlayStation
  • $39.99
  • Konami

Suikoden II, a fairly deep role-playing game, combines community building with traditional turn-based fighting. The graphics are pretty old school, using sprites instead of polygons, but if you like the genre, you'll like this quest. Grade: B
