Quinn, a 1990 graduate of Gibbs High School, was promoted to his current rank while serving with the Marine Security Guard Detachment, American Embassy Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Africa. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class William S. Robinson, son of Mary G. and William G. Robinson of St. Petersburg, reported for duty with Patrol Squadron 16, Naval Air Station, Jacksonville. A 1983 graduate of Northeast High School, he joined the Navy in January 2000. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Anthony J. Kovac, son of Charlene V. Kovac of St. Petersburg and Thomas R. Kovac of Temple Terrace, completed the electro-optical ordnance technician course with Marine Corps Detachment, U.S. Army Ordnance Center and School, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. Kovac received advanced training in mechanical, optical and electrical repairs to ordnance, laser devices and small missile systems. He learned how to inspect, troubleshoot and adjust ordnance fire control instruments and night observation devices. A 1999 graduate of Tampa Bay Technical High School in Tampa, Kovac joined the Marine Corps in June 1999. Army Pvt. Joshua M. Chewning, son of Gregory and Carol Chewning of St. Petersburg, completed basic training at Fort Benning, Ga. He received a commendation for expert marksmanship. He will report to Fort Gordon, Ga., for signal support specialist training and then to Fort Benning for airborne training. A 1998 graduate of Lakewood High School, Chewning will be stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C., with the 82nd Airborne when he completes his training. - Send Military News to Donna Winchester, St. Petersburg Times, P.O.
