TWA Q&A

By Times staff reports

© St. Petersburg Times, published January 11, 2001

Here are excerpts from TWA's answers to frequently asked questions about what will happen during its bankruptcy and acquisition by American Airlines. These questions and others appear on the airline's Web site at www.twa.com.

Q. Will my ticket be honored throughout the bankruptcy process?

A. We will honor your purchased tickets as we normally would. Our passengers will not be affected in any way by the filing. Our flight service and flight schedules will remain the same, and we will continue to honor purchased tickets and Aviators miles as we normally would.

Q. Will you refund my tickets?

A. Nothing has changed with regard to ticketing rules.

Q. What will happen to my frequent flier miles?

A. We will honor your Aviators miles earned before the filing and miles will continue to accrue during the proceeding as they normally would.

Q. What will happen to my frequent flier miles when TWA is integrated into American?

A. Soon, TWA passengers who are AAdvantage members can begin accruing AAdvantage miles on TWA flights. Further information on transferability of Aviators miles will be forthcoming from American.

Q. Are you canceling any routes?

A. Throughout the transition and the bankruptcy proceeding, we expect no major changes in our flight routes and schedules. However, American will aggressively review all aspects of our operations including routes in an effort to ensure it will emerge a stronger competitor in the industry.
