Young writers explore soaring visions
By Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published January 11, 2001 For me, writing is the way to go Being a young person of the 21st century, I have many careers to choose from. However, my career choice has been around for centuries. I enjoy meeting and talking with people and writing. Therefore, my ideal job would be being a writer. Writers have been around for many years. Even during the 1800s when newspapers were hard to get, people were writing about important things taking place. They wrote about the gold and silver rushes, the movement West and famous outlaws. Many would add a little bit of their own words to make it sound more interesting. Some writers started keeping diaries that later they turned into books. I enjoy meeting and talking with people from all over. Many become my friends, but I also get all kinds of interesting information. I have heard all kinds of stories. Some of them sad, happy and even funny. There are many kinds of writers. You have some who write about mysteries, love, true facts, scary, travel and many more. I like writing about mysteries. I like to keep people guessing about what will happen next. Sometimes I add some scary parts to my mysteries. I also may include parts from stories people I have met have told me. Writing for me is a way I can always stay a child. When I write I can escape everything else that is happening around me. I can also figure out problems, because sometimes my characters solve them for me. Writing is a job I can do anywhere. I don't need to wear a shirt, tie, and suit. I can wear a bathing suit and sit by my pool. My dream is to one day see one of my mysteries with my name on the front being sold at a bookstore. Oh no, I feel another story coming. Shane Souther, Citrus Springs Elementary School Sneakers put magic on your feetHey! Have you ever wanted to fly? Are you a C, D or F student and want A's? Do you want to be the hippest, coolest cat ever? Then the Lawler Wonder 2001 sneakers are just for you. They can fly you anywhere or just on a joyride. I first discovered this when I was walking around. l had just got them and I wished I could fly while trying to find the music button found on every pair. I accidentally pushed the flying button. Whoosh, I was in the air! I thought about going to Ireland. Then, I turned suddenly east and in just 20 minutes I knew I was in Ireland, because I saw the Rock of Cashel Church. These sneakers will also let you climb Mount Everest without getting frostbite. This is how it's possible. It has a shield called the Thermoshield that makes you feel like you're on a beautiful, sandy beach in Florida. Your shoes can also make you a straight-A student. This is accomplished by tapping your pencil on your shoe and then putting it on your paper and presto -- instant A. For example, I didn't study for a math test and I didn't know the answers on the test. I tapped the pencil on my amazing shoe. I put the pencil firmly in my hand and I touched the paper. It was like the pencil was possessed. I was done with the test in three minutes flat. I got it back the next day and I got a 100 percent! I knew it wasn't my work and I couldn't have done it without my miraculous pair of Lawler Wonder 2001 sneakers. If you're still not impressed, then listen up. Do you want to be the raddest, baddest homey in school or the most popular girl ever? Then these shoes are for you! They come in any size, shape, type, and color. One minute they could be Nike sneakers, the next minute, they're snazzy dress shoes. You can program them to be whatever styles your heart desires! Plus, they grow with you and always look brand new. (An especially nice feature for those who dance and prance in the mud.) You can get them when you're 5 and still have them when you're 19. You can also become the most popular kid in class when you wear the Lawler Wonder 2001 sneakers. I know this because I wore them one day and everyone was saying "over here," "sit by me," "I'll call you," "what's your number?" and all the other things popular people hear. Then the next day I didn't wear them and it was like I wasn't even there. Every day I wore them I was popular. (But being popular isn't all that important.) So are you convinced now? If you are, go down to your nearest Lawler Inc. store and buy them for just $15, plus tax. While you're there, check out our other amazing items!
