Citrus County Support Services announces a commodity distribution from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., or until all commodities are distributed, on Wednesday.

The distribution center for the east side of the county is the Citrus County Auditorium, 3610 U.S. 41 S, Inverness, near the fairgrounds.

The distribution center for the west side of the county is at the Crystal River National Guard Armory, 8940 W Venable St., (south of the Crystal River Airport), Crystal River.

Individuals must bring photo identification each time they receive commodities.

Under the newfederal guidelines, individuals cannot send written permission that allows others to pick up their allotment without first signing up that individual.

Eligibility will be based on total household income not in excess of state-established maximum percentage of the poverty line for the appropriate household size.

Everyone must bring proof of their income, indicating total for everyone in their household. Family and Children's Services' clients receiving AFDC, Medicaid, food stamps or SSI must bring their letter of decision. Medicaid and food stamps cards are not acceptable documentation.

Those receiving Social Security checks must bring their letter or bank statement if their check is automatically deposited in the bank.

There is only one allotment per household. You are asked to bring bags or boxes in which to carry home the food.

Acceptance and participation in the program are the same for everyone without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex or handicap.

Please do not contact the distribution centers. If you have questions or wish to volunteer to help distribute, call Support Services at 527-5410.
