    Series of free law classes set at SPJC campus

    CLEARWATER -- You don't have to be a lawyer to learn about the law. The People's Law School, a series of free sessions sponsored by the Clearwater Bar Association, will begin Thursday.

    All classes, taught by local judges and/or lawyers, will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. in the teaching auditorium of St. Petersburg Junior College, at 2465 Drew St. in Clearwater.

    People can attend as few or as many sessions as they wish. There is no homework. Seating is limited, but registration not necessary. For information, call 461-4869.

    Here is a schedule: Thursday: Wills, trusts, estate planning

    Jan. 25: How a jury trial really works

    Feb. 1: The judicial system from the judge's perspective

    Feb. 8: Condominium law and landlord/tenant law

    Feb. 15: Probate, guardianship, elder law

    Feb. 22: Criminal law

    March 1: Real estate, real property law

    March 8: Social Security, worker's compensation

    March 15: Family law (divorce, child custody, child support and adoption)

    March 22: Insurance, injury law

    March 29: Employment discrimination

    April 5: Tax law

    April 19: Small business and intellectual property (patent, trademark and copyright)

    April 26: Public school law

    May 3: Consumer law and bankruptcy

    May 10: Health care, hospital law, nursing home law

    May 17: Your rights under the Constitution

    May 24: State and local government law
