Speeding driver lost control in fatal accident, deputies sayBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published January 16, 2001 PLANT CITY -- A 20-year-old man was killed late Saturday when he lost control of his 1999 Chevrolet Camaro. Joseph Wayne Haney, of 3900 Charlie Taylor Road in Plant City, was driving north on Charlie Taylor Road just before midnight at high speed when his right tires dipped off the edge of the road, Hillsborough County deputies said. Haney overcorrected in trying to steer the Camaro back onto the road, causing the car to swerve out of control and flip onto its roof. Haney was killed instantly. Investigators said alcohol was not a factor in the crash. No other cars were involved.
