    Scholarship for female athletes

    Figure skater Michelle Kwan and the Chevrolet Motor Division plan to recognize 10 outstanding athletic female high school graduates from across the nation. Through the Chevrolet/Michelle Kwan REWARDS Scholarship Program, each student will receive $5,000 payable over four years.

    To be eligible, students must be female; have sufficient credits to graduate in the spring of 2001; have at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale; have demonstrated both academic and athletic excellence through school teams, intramural activities, organized athletic clubs or other community-based sports organizations; have demonstrated leadership and community involvement/volunteerism; be a citizen or legal resident of the United States; intend to enroll in an accredited two- or four-year college or university during the fall 2001 term; plan to continue involvement in athletics while in college; and demonstrate financial need.
