Campus calendarBy SUZANNE SCRUGGS © St. Petersburg Times, published January 19, 2001 THEATER: USF presents a dance-theatre production, Dancing with The Wheel of Ever Returning, at 7:30 p.m. from today until Jan. 27, with matinees at 2 p.m. Sunday and Jan. 27 in USF Theatre II. This production features Australian Aborigines, Native Americans, actors, dancers and musicians. Call USF's box office at (813) 974-2323. MUSIC: USF's Community Music School is having a faculty recital at 3 p.m. on Sunday in the School of Music Recital Hall (FAH 101). Jacques Linder will be on piano. Linder will feature the works of Schubert, Franck, Ravel and Debussy. This event is free. Call (813) 974- 5792. ART: UT will present the Breaking Boundaries exhibit beginning Friday through March 2 at UT's Scarfone/Hartley Galleries. The exhibit features works in progress and completed works from some of the 20th century's most influential musicians, composers, writers, poets, choreographers, painters, sculptors, playwrights and directors. The public also is invited to the opening reception from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday. Running concurrent with the exhibit is a paintings and monoprints exhibition by Ed Paschke. Admission is free. Call Dorothy Cowden at (813) 253-6217. USF's Contemporary Art Museum features a new installation commissioned by contemporary Aboriginal artist Fiona Foley. The exhibition runs through Jan. 27. Foley's work addresses issues of identity, influenced by her heritage, as well as her recent exposure to the Seminole Indians of Florida. A historical exhibition of Aboriginal bark paintings and Native American art and artifacts will complement Foley's project. This event is free. Call (813) 974-4133. WORKSHOP: UT is offering a financial aid workshop from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday in the Plant Hall Lobby. This is an opportunity for parents and students preparing to attend college to obtain in-depth information on all aspects of the financial aid process. This event is free. Call (813) 253-6232. EVENTS: UT will hold a "topping out" ceremony at 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday. The ceremony commemorates a milestone in the construction of the Ronald L. Vaughn Student Center and Residence Hall, as the $28-million structure that will re-center UT campus life reaches its maximum height. Rising where Delo Hall once stood, the nine-story Vaughn Hall complex will feature an 80,000-square-foot student center. The building is on schedule for opening in late August. UT hosts an Antique Appraisal Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday in Plant Hall, Music Room. Bring your favorite treasures to be appraised. $5 per item, limit three items. Call (813) 253-6232. UT's Career Services presents the Part Time Jobs and Internship Fair from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday in Plant Hall, the grand salon and music room. LECTURES: UT presents an Honors Program Symposium at 4 p.m. on Tuesday in the Macdonald-Kelce Library, AV Room 2. The topic of discussion is "Revolutions in Mental Health Treatment: The Pharmacology Wave" with Dr. Joseph Sclafani, associate professor of psychology.
