    Pianist promises quick, effective lesson

LARGO -- Linda Eldridge, a classically trained professional pianist, will again offer her workshop on "Instant Piano for Hopelessly Busy People" from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Largo Community Center, 65 Fourth St. NW.

Participants need to attend only one of the sessions. Eldridge, who has taught piano for more than 25 years, said only a bare minimum of musical background is recommended: a knowledge of the treble clef. Students will learn to use sheet music using chords rather than note-for-note music reading. They should know enough by the end of the workshop to play most pop tunes, Eldridge added.

Cost is $25 with a resident recreation card or $31.25 with a non-resident recreation card. Advance registration is necessary. To sign up and for information, call the community center, 518-3131.
