2 courses will teach basics of business

The St. Petersburg Employment and Economic Development Corp., along with the Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development, will present two courses for small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs.

The first, an 11-session course beginning on Feb. 13, will focus on business planning. Participants will write business plans, learn how to handle competition and review the legal aspects of running a business.

The second, a nine-session course beginning on Feb. 15, focuses on helping entrepreneurs determine if their business concept is viable. Participants conduct a feasibility study on their idea, as well as studying financial documents and market research and learning how to finance the venture. Both courses will be held at Mount Zion Human Services Inc., 945 20th St. S, St. Petersburg. For information, call Stephanie M. Brown, 530-0074.

New pizza business offers only take-out pies

Benedetti's Pizza has opened at 1120 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. The business is take-out only, and hours of operation are Sunday through Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to midnight. From Thursday through Saturday, Benedetti's is open 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Architect commissioned to design Tampa church

Wedding, Stephenson & Ibarguen Architects Inc. of St. Petersburg has been commissioned to design a 22,000-square-foot facility in suburban Tampa for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The project encompasses eight acres of a tract near Citrus Park Mall and includes classrooms and a basketball court as well as a chapel.

Accounting, consulting firm appoints partner

Laura Krueger has been appointed partner for the accounting and consulting firm of Cherry, Bekaert & Holland of St. Petersburg. Krueger currently serves on the board of the Finance Council of the St. Petersburg Catholic Diocese and the St. Petersburg Junior College Alumni Boards.
