Video gamesBy ROBB GUIDO © St. Petersburg Times, published January 22, 2001 Tiger Woods GolfSYSTEM: PlayStation MAKER: EASports PRICE: $39.99 Not only are the graphics awful in this game, but the ball bounces as if the courses are made of Astroturf. Looks like Tiger's ready for the PlayStation 2. Grade: D WWF No MercySYSTEM: Nintendo 64 MAKER: THQ PRICE: $49.99 This wrestling game has 65 brawlers and just about every conceivable match option, including a ladder match, to go with highly interactive backstage areas. One drawback: Some serious slowdown results when the action heats up. Grade: B+ Real PoolSYSTEM: PlayStation 2 MAKER: Infogrames PRICE: $49.99 Not only does this game offer a solid game of pool and carom, but players will be challenged by dozens of wacky puzzles on strangely shaped pool tables. Grade: A- Q-BallSYSTEM: PlayStation 2 MAKER: Take 2 Interactive PRICE: $49.99 In addition to straight pool, Q-Ball offers several gimmick games such as Bowliard and panel bingo. It's good, but Real Pool is better. Grade: B WCW Backstage AssaultSYSTEM: PlayStation MAKER: EASports PRICE: $39.99 Wrestling action frequently spills outside the ring and into backstage areas, but this is ridiculous. The action starts and ends out of bounds and leaves the ring out completely. Other wrestling games include the ring and just as many backstage zones, and they have better graphics. Grade: D- You Don't Know Jack: Mock 2SYSTEM: PlayStation MAKER: Sierra PRICE: $39.99 Jack makes a great party game, provided those who buy it have three controllers and a Mutitap for plugging them in. The questions are fast and funny, but it's no fun alone and the humor is not for preteens. Grade: B- * * * - Robb Guido is an avid gamer who lives in Tampa.
