Hospital auxiliary needs volunteers

The Citrus Memorial Hospital Auxiliary has several openings available for volunteers. The auxiliary is open to people 18 or older. Positions are available in both patient care and clerical areas. Volunteer activities include active floor duty, assignments in various departments and fundraising to purchase needed medical equipment for the hospital. Training and orientation will be provided.

Council will hold winter meeting

Floral City Heritage Council announces its winter quarterly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Floral City Community Building.

On the agenda for the evening will be a critique of Floral City Heritage Days 2000, a proposal of projects for the year (bring your ideas) and an update of ongoing projects and items of interest to the community.

The public is cordially invited to attend. Visitors are always welcome and membership is open to all. For information please call 726-7720.

Author to speak at meeting

INVERNESS -- The Citrus County Art League will have a presentation by author and photojournalist Bill Thomas following its general meeting at 1 p.m. Feb. 8 at the center, 2644 N Annapolis Ave., off County Road 486 west of Hernando. Thomas will speak on "Disappearing Legends of Planet Earth," focusing on disappearing wildlife. His work has appeared in national magazines such as National Geographic and Reader's Digest. The presentation is open to non-members for $3. Call Ginger at 527-6524.

Camera Club plans presentation

HERNANDO -- The Citrus County Art League's Camera Club will meet at 7 p.m. Feb. 5 at the center, 2644 N Annapolis Ave., off County Road 486 west of Hernando. Susan Jensen presents a program on titling, writing captions and illustrating word images with companion photographs. Call (352) 447-2267.

Civic Theatre to present comedy 'Squabbles'

HERNANDO -- The comedy Squabbles will be presented by Gulf Islands Civic Theatre for two weekends beginning Feb. 17 in the Hampton Room of Andre's of Citrus Hills. Dinner is at 5 p.m. and the performance at 6:15 on Fridays and Saturdays. Sunday's times are meal at 1:30 p.m. and the show at 2:45. Call Andre's at 746-6855 for reservations.

Replica of Vietnam Memorial to be displayed

CRYSTAL RIVER -- The Tribute Wall of Names, a 378-foot replica of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C., will be displayed at Rock Crusher Canyon's Amphitheater Feb. 16-19.

The Citrus Sertoma Club is sponsoring the wall's first appearance in Citrus County to commemorate Sertoma's National American Heritage Month.

Visitors also will be able to see the Veterans Museum, featuring more than 50 oil paintings. The world's largest POW-MIA banner also will be displayed. Military and political dignitaries will take part in the weekend programs. A candlelight vigil will be held at 6 p.m Feb. 18.

Two concerts feature music of Tommy Dorsey

LECANTO -- Two concerts featuring the music of bandleader Tommy Dorsey as played by the 42nd St. Orchestra will be at 2 and 7 p.m. Feb. 24 at Curtis Peterson Auditorium, Lecanto.

Vocalists Lotarr and Laura Yager will be featured during the show. Advance tickets are $12 at SunTrust, Regions and Bank of America bank offices throughout Citrus. Group rates for 20 or more. Call 382-1700 or 382-4072 for group ticket sales.

The concert is presented by the Kiwanis Club of Homosassa Springs.

Audience-participation mystery scheduled

CRYSTAL RIVER -- An audience-participation mystery, Wedding From Hell, will be presented weekends through Feb. 11 at Playhouse 19, 865 U.S. 19 S, Crystal River. Tickets are $12. Call 563-1333.
